Well, they seem to think so. The FCC seems to feel it is television and radios responsibility to raise children. This is obvious since all of their recent decisions are made under the guise of "protecting the children from harmful images and language" What is this all about? Are parents done accepting responsibility for what their children watch or hear? I have a hint for you parents, if you don't want your children exposed to "dirty" words or images do not let them watch tv, listen to the radio, use the internet, or otherwise go out in public.
Some people may think this is a ridiculous idea. Some people are fucking idiots. The first amendment secures the right of the press (television and radio) and the right of free speech (again television and radio). The first amendment also secures religious views from affecting laws. Your misguided religous beliefs have no place in deciding what is or is not decent. Please, by all means practice them in your home, but do not force them on the rest of us. Just because your religion supposedly holds the belief that a naked body is sinful does not mean everyone feels the same way.
I say parents need to be held accountable and learn to use their remote controls. All TVs today are also made with this nifty program called a V-chip. LEARN HOW TO USE IT!! Don't even bother giving me this crap about the SuperBowl either. I know what happened and I say it serves you right for being so stupid as to believe that football is actually good wholesome family entertainment. Football is a horribly violent sport filled with rapist, drug-addicts, and all other sorts of human scum. You actually believe that is family entertainment filled with child worthy role models? If you do, you are a true moron.
I guess that is all I have to say on this issue. That is unless some smart-ass wants to challenge me on the finer points of the first amendment.
