FACTS ABOUT DOMESTIC VIOLENCE - Of those victimized by a intimate partner, 85% are women and 15% are men. - Women are 5 to 8 times more likely to be victimized than men - Some 2,000 to 4,000 are beaten to death annually - Women age 16 to 24 are mostly to be victimized by a intimate partner - The nation's police spend one-third of their time responding to domestic violence calls - Nearly 6 million wives will be abused by their husbands in any one year - Approximately 40-50% of female victims are physically injured and only 1 out of 5 seek help - A lot of women wait until it's too late to call a domestic violence agency - Domestic violence is not just physical abuse; it is also verbal and emotional abuse - Domestic violence is also caused by being abused in the past
