WHY STREET CRIME IS A PROBLEM Street Crime is a problem because a lot of people kill innocents and other people for respect and money.           BASIC STREET SENSE Wherever you are - on the street, in an office building or shopping mall, driving, waiting for a bus- stay alert and tuned in to your surroundings. Send the message that you're calm, confident, and know where you're going. Trust your instincts. If something or someone makes you uneasy, avoid the person or leave. Know the neighborhoods where you live and work. Check out the locations of police and fire stations, public telephones, hospitals, and restaurants, or stores that are open late.

-Street Crime is held out in open areas. -If you wear certain things a gang may kill you. -There are many different gangs. -Most victims and offenders of crime are men. -Most people arrested for committing a crime AND most victims of crime are less than 25 years old. -More crime happens in warm weather and in warm climates. -Population density also affects crime – the more people in a condensed area, the higher rate of crimes. -Most acts of violence happen between two people who know each other. -Most groups victimize people within their racial group.
