JAVA
JAVA - The story of the East Indiaman by Stephen Barnett

Being the Melancholy True Story of the Voyage of the East Indiaman "JAVA" with Emigrants to the Colony of South Australia arriving in Holdfast Bay on February 6th 1840, with the Sad Loss of Life of many Children and Adults during the Voyage; of the continued Suffering of the Passengers; of the Concern of the Citizens of the Colony and the Disgust of the Governor Gawler and of the Subsequent Enquiry. The book also tells us of the Last of the East Indiamen, its Last Years as a Coal Hulk in Gibraltar and of its Final Voyage to the Breakers in Genoa in July of 1939.

This book is dedicated to the memory of  my late father, Laurence Michael Barnett, soldier, merchant navy sailor and writer, who left to his children, the legacy of the desire to be communicators, and to my mother Dorothy, for her care and love to us all through the years.
