My Favorite Hobby !!

I'm the guy in the red cap (the biggest fish were mine!!)

When I said that Saturn Of Anchorage does some pretty neat "team-building" excercises, I wasn't joking.  On this occasion, Bill Long (the owner of a body shop with which we work) invited the gang out on a halibut charter.  This original trip has now turned into an annual event - thanks Bill !!

And Robin's Reaction After Catching It !!
Robin's First King Salmon !!

Last summer (1999), I thought I'd pay Bill back and took him, Robin (my oldest daughter and best fishing buddy), and my friend John along with me on a fly-in trip to Alexander Creek.  I'm quite proud to say that Robin caught her first king salmon !!  Dad, as usual, only caught a good sunburn !!

Caution - Moose Crossing !!

As Bill's picture above shows, sometimes one has to share the river with a floatplane.  In this one, we had to share the Kasilof River with a moose !!  Sorry that the picture is taken from too far of a distance to really make out the moose, but hey - we didn't want another passenger in the boat.

My girls show off a good day's efforts !!

One of the best days fishing with my daughters which I ever spent was in 1998 at a secret fishing stream just south of here.  Pink Salmon may not be on the top of the list as the most desirable salmon for eating, but for having fun with the kids, they can't be beat !!  That day the fish were so thick that we were practically having to kick the less desirable ones out of the way to get to the ones we wanted.  Just wish every day of fishing was like this one.

We fished so long we didn't notice how dark it was getting !!

Another day of reeling in Pinks at Willow Creek two years ago (1998).  The stringer was full, just had to get some of them cleaned before it got too dark.  I'm sure my daughters will always remember this as the day we created the biggest tangle of lines, nets, and stringers ever when we helped a lady land a huge Chum that evening.  And also as the day that Amber dropped dad's car keys in between some huge rocks and we almost ended up hitchhiking sixty miles back home !!
