TV Guide Online: We are chatting LIVE with Craig Kilborn, host of the CBS Late, Late Show, and the upcoming TV Guide Awards. Welcome Craig!
Kilborn:Hi everybody! Let's have a good online chat and then I'm going to take a shower and get ready for the Late Late Show, with Bob Sagat and the return of the Scorpions.
TV Guide Online: What happened to David Hasselhoff?
Kilborn: He has a hundred and three temperature. But he'll be back.
Question: Craig, what guest have you not interviewed but would like to?
Kilborn:I get that question a lot, I've interviewed the kings. I would like to have David Letterman on the show. I wish, if Richard Burton was still alive to interview him.
Question: Do you like sushi?
Kilborn:I always liked sushi when I have it, but I never seek it out.
Question: Who was your worst guest?
Kilborn: David James Elliot from JAG and in my imaginary interview, Richard Burton turned out to be not very good.
Question: How's Carrottop doing?
Kilborn: Struggling I think he's performing outside the country for the next 5 years...he had a good couple of years there. I still think he's the funniest redhead prop comic in the business.
Question: Craig-did anyone give you advice about hosting the TV Guide Awards?
Kilborn: I talked to Gary Shandling and I told him all of my ideas and he said "that's funny, that's funny." You'll see on the TV Guide Awards. I have a support group which includes Tony Robbins as a phone who keeps telling me to look at the audience.
Question: So do you enjoy your job?
Kilborn: I think I have the best job in America. I love being on at 12:30 and I love following DAvid Letterman. I miss New York, but I'm healthier in L.A. I have sun and beaches and speeding along the PCH. See if you can catch me, coppers.
Question: Craig, why is your show on so late at night? I can't stay up!
Kilborn: It depends on what market they're in. I'm on after Dave. I have an ability to help people get a good nights sleep. Generally during the monologue people nod off.
TV Guide Online: That must help your ratings? :)
Kilborn: They are through the roof. The technical term is through the roof.
Question: Have you always been so handsome?
Kilborn: Actually, no, the film the Mask was actually about me. No one knows this, but I still call Cher mom and my great grandfather was the elephant man.
Question: How long does it take to do your hair?
Kilborn: On vacation it takes 2 hours, but on a show day, it takes 20 minutes. I have 10 people doing it now.
Question: Have you ever dated a guest, if so who?
Kilborn: No, I have never dated a guest. But there are times that there is a lot of flirting going on. I try to keep it within the hour, but I did have brunch the next day with Dom DeLuise. I was a little tempted by Phil Simms...the sportscaster, but he's married. :)
Question: Craig, do you read TV Guide?
Kilborn: Just for the pictures. It also helps keep my coffee table level.
Question: Craig, are you nervous about hosting the TV Guide Awards?
Kilborn: No I just basically get nervous interviewing Dom DeLuise. :)
Question: Do you miss ESPN? And do you still follow sports as religiously as you used to?
Kilborn: I don't miss ESPN any longer, but I do follow the NBA, or the debacle that is the NBA. :) |
