LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com)--If Magic Johnson can host a talk show, then it stands to reason that Craig Kilborn can take part in an NBA training camp.

The 6-foot-5 host of "The Late Late Show" on CBS and a former basketball player at Montana State University, will join the Minnesota Timberwolves for two days of their preseason training camp next week.  He'll take part in two-a-day practices and run with the team in a scrimmage Tuesday (Oct. 7).

Kilborn averaged 3.1 points per game as a bench player for Montana State from 1981-84.  The Minnesota native, a big T-Wolves fan, will get to test his game against the likes of Kevin Garnett, Latrell Sprewell and Sam Cassell.

"I'm a throwback to the old NBA, when the players were slower and less skilled," Kilborn says.

A handful of celebrities, most notably Garth Brooks, have taken part in baseball training camps in recent years, but no NBA team has indulged a star in the same way.  The way T-Wolves coach Flip Saunders tells it, though, Kilborn will receive no special treatment.

"I hope he is in shape and prepared for this," Saunders says.  "He will be a rookie attending our camp, and he will be treated as one."
