Craig Kilborn makes his film debut this month in Old School, a raunchy comedy starring Vince Vaughn and Luke Wilson about guys in their thirties who start their own fraternity. Kilborn plays a smug, two-timing yuppie, and he's really, really believable. Premiere asked him to explain his, uh, character.
PREMIERE: So why are you so good at playing an asshole?
Yeah. I was surprised they thought I'd be perfect for the part. Maybe I view myself differently than the rest of the world does. I'm a very nice guy in my personal life.
Right. So why are you so good at playing an asshole?
Again, this is a movie, okay? I was acting. And by the way, I should point out that I was told by the director, "Please, Craig, don't steal scenes from the high-priced talent."
That was very humble of you.
Yeah. I purposefully downplayed what I was doing. I left most of my good work in the trailer.
Are you the next Greg Kinnear?
No, no. For me, [acting is] just a diversion. I thoroughly enjoy doing the talk show. |
