SAY GOODNIGHT to "The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn."
On Friday, Kilborn told the head honchos at CBS that he doesn't care to do the late-night talk show anymore after his contract is up later this year. And CBS is, well, cool with that.
It's a mutual breakup. You see, during his five-year stint, Kilborn continually got his butt kicked every night by "Late Night with Conan O'Brien." And CBS thinks they can do better. Of course, I should note that Kilborn does beat "Jimmy Kimmel Live" in the ratings, but that's not very hard. Airing old episodes of "The Chevy Chase Show" might be able to pull off that stunt. (This is coming from someone who actually likes Kimmel.)
Look for Kilborn to wrap it up within a month.
Now, the rumor mill is churning out the theory that CBS will offer big bucks to O'Brien to take the 12:30 a.m. slot along with the promise of moving him into the 11:30 p.m. slot when Letterman leaves--a chance O'Brien won't get anytimes soon at NBC, because the suckfest known as Jay Leno is signed till 2009.
Hey CBS, if you can't get O'Brien, I've got a few suggestions.
-How about Arsenio Hall? I remember people liking him and you already use him to host "Star Search."
-Ali G from "Da Ali G Show." Sure, no one understands a word he's saying, but he's still funnier than Kilborn.
-I think Jon Stewart is an obvious choice here. Look at what he did for the other talk show Kilborn left: A little show called "The Daily Show" that, thanks to Stewart's influence, has gone onto bigger ratings and Emmy and Peabody awards.
Yeah, so anyway, what frightens me the most about Kilborn going off the air is he'll have more time to act in movies! Oh, the horror.

NOTE FROM SITE OWNER: I realize that this article is pretty anti-Kilborn, but I'm trying to get as many articles as I can without being too repetitive. Keep in mind that this is just some snotty bitch from San Francisco, who thinks she knows everything because she writes for a big newspaper. Hey Sonia, if you had really done your homework, you would have known that Jon Stewart recently inked a deal with Comedy Central for the next 4 years. While Arsenio Hall is a good idea, Ali G is not. Everybody who's reading this, raise your hand if you've ever heard of "Da Ali G Show"..... Yeah, that's what I thought. I think reporters, especially entertainment reporters, should not be allowed to inject their personal opinion into their articles. |
