Biscuits



  • 2 C flour
  • 1 1/2 T baking powder
  • 1 t salt
  • 1 pinch baking soda
  • 1 1/2 C buttermilk
  • bacon grease or oil....maybe butter (I havn't tried it with butter)

Preheat oven to 425°.
Prepare a square baking sheet by adding 2 tablespoons grease and placing in oven til hot. Remove before it starts to smoke.
Sift all dry ingredients together. Add buttermilk and stir just until it holds together enough to place on a floured surface. Pinch off enough dough for one biscuit. Gently shape into biscuit and place on pan. Repeat the process til all the dough is gone. ( Be very careful with the dough. Do not roll it or squish it in any way.) Pour by teaspoonfuls melted grease over every biscuit. Bake for 15 minutes or til brown. If they are not cooking fast enough then crank the oven up! Serve piping hot.
