Preheat oven to 350. Grease and flour three 9" cake pans.
- In bowl # 1 - Beat egg whites until firm peaks form.
- In bowl # 2 -Sift dry ingredients together.
- In bowl # 3 - Cream butter and sugar until smooth.
- Add flour and milk alternately to butter mixture beginning and ending with flour.
- Stir in vanilla.
- Fold in firmly beaten egg whites.
- Bake for 25 - 30 minutes.
