Chicken:
- Boil the chicken in broth with celery, carrots, salt and pepper until chicken is tender.
- Pull chicken apart into strips and add more broth if necessary.
Dumplings:
- Sift flour and salt together.
- Add egg yolk and broth. Mix until it's the consistency of which you can handle.
- Roll out to 1/4" thickness on a floured surface.
- Cut into strips 1" wide by 3" long. The dumplings will grow considerable while cooking.
- Bring chicken to boil and add dumplings one at a time.
- Cover and cook for 20 minutes. Turn the heat down if it wants to boil over.
Let cool a bit so it will thicken and serve.
