Baking Powder 1 teaspoon
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 C buttermilk
  • Reduce other liquid in recipe by 1/2 Cup
    Cake Flour 1 C Measure into 1 cup
  • 2 T cornstarch
  • all purpose flour
  • Sift cornstarch and flour 3 times.
    Catsup or chili sauce 1 cup
  • 1 8 oz. can tomatoe sauce
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons vinegar
  • Go buy some more catsup
    Chocolate Squares 1 square
  • 3 tablespoons cocoa
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • Same as above
    Cream 1 cup
  • 1/3 cup butter
  • 3/4 C milk
  • Who keeps heavy cream on hand anyway?
    Garlic 1 med. clove 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder Buy some garlic...it keeps for a long time.
    Herbs 1 tablespoon fresh chopped 1 teaspoon dried Pronounced "urb" in my neck of the woods.
    Milk 1 cup
  • 1/2 cup evaporated milk
  • 1/2 cup water
  • You really shouldn't run out of milk.
    Mustard, dry 1 teaspoon 1 tablespoon prepared mustard That was easy
    Self-rising flour 4 C
  • 4 C all purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 T baking powder
  • 1 T sugar
  • 1/2 T salt
  • Mix and sift several times.
    Sour milk 1 cup
  • 1 T lemon juice or vinegar
  • milk to make 1 C
  • Not spoiled milk...sour.
