Jealousy
(Part 1)
Logan laid in his bed, replaying Jean’s apparent choice over in his head. He
couldn’t sleep so he got dressed and headed out to a local bar, since it was
still relatively early. He sat down at the bar and ordered a beer.
“Hi,” said a short, brunette, taking the seat next to him.
Logan nodded at her, not really in the mood to have company. “Hi.”
“My name’s Livvie,” she smiled, ordering a drink.
“Logan,” he replied. ((Wait, what am I thinking? Jean made her choice, so I
should move on.)) He took a second look at Livvie, looking her up and down. She
was short with beautiful brown hair and eyes. He lit a cigar and motioned for
the bartender to put her drink on his tab. He leaned back in his chair a bit,
smiling slightly at her.
“You play?” she gestured toward the pool table.
He shrugged. “A little.”
“Loser buys next round.”
“Sounds fair to me,” he answered, thinking he’d win easily.
Half and hour later, he’d lost badly–twice. “Looks like the next two rounds are
on you, Sexy,” Livvie said smiling.
Logan looked at his watch. Although he wasn’t tired at all, it was late. “How
about tomorrow night?” he suggested.
She shrugged. “Sounds good to me; how about 9?”
“Alright; I need to get going,” he said, throwing some cash on the counter and
leaving.
The next day he woke up late and headed downstairs for breakfast. Jean was
sitting in the kitchen drinking coffee and glanced up when he walked in.
“You look like hell,” Jean commented, smiling and getting up to get him some
aspirin.
“Thanks; I feel like hell,” he said, a little more grumpy than he meant to.
Despite his healing factor, he had a slight headache and hadn’t slept well the
night before.
She handed him some aspirin. “Couldn’t sleep?”
He shook his head. “Nope; I decided to go to a bar instead.”
“Oh,” she said quietly. “So what are you doing tonight?”
Logan shrugged and looked at her. “Why does it matter to you?”
“Just wondering,” she said defensively.
“Sorry; lack of sleep talking. I’m going out,” he replied.
“Oh,” she said again. “Just out, or are you meeting someone?”
Logan smirked. Jean was awfully curious for someone who wasn’t that interested
in him. “Her name is Livvie,” he said simply before walking away.
Jean stood staring after him for a few moments. He had a date? Jean shook her
head, telling herself that she had made her choice, and it wasn’t any of her
business who he went out with. Still, she couldn’t fight the slight twinge of
jealousy she felt at him moving past her.
After
her encounter with Logan that morning, Jean
decided she wanted to meet Livvie. Scott was away on a recruiting mission, and
it would be too obvious if she just so happened to turn up in the same bar as
Logan, so she went in search of someone to take with her.
“Hey, Jean,” Storm greeted her, walking past her to get to her room.
Jean turned around and followed her. “Storm, do you have plans tonight?”
“No, why?”
Jean shrugged. She wasn’t about to say she wanted a partner to spy on Logan.
“It’s just that we haven’t had a girl’s night out in a long time.”
“Sure; sounds great to me,” she replied. “What time?”
Jean wanted to make sure she arrived before Logan did, so it didn’t look as
suspicious. “Is 8 okay?”
“I’ll meet you downstairs,” Storm answered, smiling, before disappearing into
her room.
Jean and Storm had taken a seat near the door. Storm noticed Jean kept glancing
at the door every few minutes. “Jean, what’s going on? Are you expecting
someone?” she asked.
“Nothing,” Jean replied, glancing to the door again.
At that moment, Livvie walked through the door, followed closely by Logan. “Ah,
I see,” Storm said knowingly.
“What?” Jean shrugged, turning around in her chair to get a better look at
Livvie.
“Conveniently being in the same bar at the same time as Logan and whoever his
date is...Jean Grey, you’re jealous,” Storm teased.
She whirled back around. “I am not jealous of Livvie,” she insisted.
“So that’s her name. Well, whoever she is, he doesn’t look at her the same way
he looks at you,” she smiled.
Jean slumped in her chair, giving up the act. “Thanks; am I really that
obvious?”
Storm nodded. “Yep; and I’ll wager that Logan knows you’re here, too.”
“More than likely; might as well get this over with,” Jean said, getting up and
heading towards the bar, where Logan was sitting with Livvie. “Logan, fancy
meeting you here,” she smiled at him.
((You knew I’d be here, Red; I was wondering if you’d stay hidden by the door
all evening,)) Logan sent her. “Imagine that. Livvie, this is Dr. Jean Grey;
Jean, this is Livvie.”
“Nice to meet you,” Livvie extended her hand.
Jean looked at it a second, pondering whether or not to be nice. “Likewise,”
she replied, almost through her teeth. Her eyes moved down to Logan’s hand,
which was resting easily on Livvie’s hip. “So, Logan tells me you’re quite the
pool shark; it’s been awhile since I’ve had a good game. Are you up for a
game?”
“Sure; do you wanna play partners?”
“Why not?” she replied, not sure if Storm had ever played before. “Just let me
go get her,” she headed back over to Storm. “Have you ever played pool before?”
Storm shook her head. “No; why?”
“You’re about to learn."
All
four walked over to an empty pool table. Storm looked at Jean worriedly.
((Don’t worry; I’ll take care of everything,)) Jean sent her smiling. She
looked at Logan and smiled innocently. “You break.”
Logan narrowed his eyes, knowing she was up to something, but not sure what it
was yet. He leaned over, ready to take his shot when an image of Jean coming
out of the shower in a towel popped into his mind. He completely missed, and
looked up to see if she was looking at him. She smiled innocently as he walked
up behind her. “That was a dirty trick,” he muttered, just loud enough for her
to hear.
“Well, looks like it’s my turn, seeing as how can’t even hit the cue ball,” she
teased, walking around the table to take her shot. She got one in the corner
pocket. “Looks like we’re stripes, Storm.”
The game continued much like that. Jean helped Storm make some shots and learn
the game in the process; she made sure Logan missed most of his shots by
throwing a mental images his way; and she made certain that Livvie made a
complete fool of herself, missing even the easiest shots. Soon Jean and Storm
only had the 8 ball left, while Logan and Livvie had most of theirs.
“8 ball, side pocket,” Jean said, making the shot easily. “Thanks for the game,
but we’ve got to get going,” she added.
Storm glanced down at her watch. “Yeah, it’s late,” she said, heading for the
door.
“I guess I’ll see you around then,” she told Logan before turning to leave.
“You can bet on it,” he growled unhappily.
Livvie turned to Logan after they left. “That was the worst game of pool I’ve
ever played in my life,” she commented.
“It’s not your fault,” he told her, angry with Jean for using her powers in the
game. “You know what? I need to go too. There’s something I’ve gotta take care
of,” he said, rushing out of the bar angrily. The closer he got to the mansion,
the angrier he got.
“You fixed that game, didn’t you?” Storm looked at Jean.
She shrugged. “I wasn’t about to let them beat us. You should have seen some of
the images I put into Logan’s head,” she smiled devilishly. “I almost felt
sorry for the poor guy.”
Storm laughed. “I feel sorry for you when he gets back; he didn’t seem too
happy with you when we left. You know he knows you played with an unfair
advantage,” she said.
Jean shrugged again. “I can handle Logan,” she replied.
“That’s what I’m afraid of,” Storm said quietly, opening the door to the
mansion and heading for her room.

Jealousy
(Part 2)
Jean was
had just gotten out of the shower when she heard a knock at her door. She
quickly grabbed her robe and sighed, knowing it was Logan. “Well, Jean, time to
face the music,” she said quietly. She opened the door and smiled at Logan. “Well, nice to see
you made it home okay; it’s a tad bit early, though. I figured you’d still be
out with Livvie.” She moved aside, letting him come
in.
Logan forced himself not to allow
himself to look at the low-cut neckline of her robe. “You know why I’m here,”
he said, so calm that if she didn’t know he wouldn’t hurt her, she’d be afraid.
“So tell me, Jean; what the hell was tonight all about?”
Jean shrugged, refusing to meet his eyes, knowing what he’d see in them. “I
just wanted to meet Livvie,” she replied, fighting to
keep the jealousy out of her voice, but knowing Logan knew anyway.
“I see,” he said. “Is that why you saw fit to use your telekinesis to beat the
pants off us in pool?”
“Hey, Storm had never played before, so I was just making up for that,” she
explained.
“Really; so tell me, were the images you sent me just part of your little game,
or are they your fantasies?” he asked, moving closer to her, almost cornering
her against the wall.
((Okay, how do I explain my way out of this one?)) she
asked herself, remembering the images she’d sent him of them making love on an
empty beach at sunset and waking up in his arms among others. She regretted
sending him some of those images, although it seemed like a good idea at the
time.
“Never mind, you just answered my question,” he smirked, smelling the desire
radiating off her. He backed her against the wall and placed his hands on
either side of her, leaving only a few centimeters of
space between them. “Now answer this; you made your choice, but are you sure
you want to stick with it?”
Jean hated feeling cornered like this, especially because she couldn’t think
straight being that close to Logan. She had to get away,
so she mentally pushed him back. “Yes,” she said, angrily. “Sending you a few
images in order to win a game of pool does not mean that I’m ready to leap into
your bed.”
“I didn’t say that,” he said. “But you can’t have it both ways, Jean. You can’t
choose to stay with Boy Scout and expect me to keep on your scent, too. It’s
not gonna happen, Jean. I’m not going to wait around
for you, knowing that I don’t even have a shot!” he said angrily. “I’m gonna move on, Jean; so who are you choosing, Jean? You
can’t have us both!”
“That’s a good question, Jean; I thought you already made your choice,” Scott
said from the doorway.
((d**n it, when did my life become so complicated?)) she asked herself. ((Around the time Logan entered the picture,))
she answered. “Logan, could you just
leave?” she replied, almost furiously. She was angry because both men kept
pushing her for a decision, and she was genuinely torn between them both; she
was drawn to Logan, but every time she tried to spend a little more time with
him, Scott kept holding her back, silently forbidding her to see him. And it
was only fair for Logan to find someone. She
hated this predicament, she hated being torn between two very different men,
and she hated that they were both fighting over her.
Logan left, and Scott turned to Jean.
“What was that all about?”
“Nothing,” she replied. “How was your trip?”
“Fine; I brought back a new teacher, who I’m sure you’ll meet tomorrow. Now
don’t change the subject. What was Logan doing in here,
practically demanding for you to choose between us? I thought you already made
your choice; are you having second thoughts?”
((I’ve had second thoughts all along,)) she told herself. She was still in a
fighting mood, though, so out loud she said, “I hate this entire predicament
you’ve put me in. You treat me like a possession, almost forbidding me to even
look at Logan. If you really loved me even half
as much as you claim, you’d want me to be happy, and I can’t be happy never
knowing if I made the right choice, and I will never know if I made the right
choice because you start a huge fuss every time I even glance at Logan!” She sighed and sank
down into a chair. “Look, I’m really tired and have a huge headache. It might
be better if we waited until tomorrow to talk about this so I don’t say
anything I’ll regret later.”
Scott nodded his head, angry that she was still thinking about Logan. “Fine.
I’m going to go catch up on some work downstairs. Don’t wait up,” he said,
quickly leaving the room.
“Ahhh!” she screamed, throwing a pillow at the door.
She knew Scott would probably just sleep on the couch in his office, anyway;
that’s usually what he did when they fought, which had begun happening more
often since Logan’s arrival. “It’s not fair to blame him for everything; you
can’t help how you feel, and neither can he,” she said quietly, turning off the
light and getting in bed, knowing that even though she was tired, she probably
wouldn’t get much sleep.
Jean
tossed and turned for a few hours, images of Scott and Logan physically
fighting over her haunted her. She finally gave up on sleep and headed down to
the kitchen to find some aspirin for her headache. She walked in and saw Logan sitting at the counter
and wondered how long she could get away with ignoring him.
“Couldn’t sleep?” he asked, no longer angry with her; he never could stay mad
at her for long.
Jean sighed and turned around. “No, I couldn’t, thanks to the love life from
Hell.”
Logan smirked at that. “Come on,
doesn’t even a little part of you like having two men around?” he asked, almost
teasing.
“No! It’s absolutely horrible! It’ll only make my headache worse, so can we
please just not talk about it?” she requested.
“Okay, but ignoring the problem won’t make it go away,” Logan replied.
“I’m not ignoring it; I just don’t want to deal with it anymore tonight,” Jean
stated.
Logan nodded. “Okay.” He threw away his
empty soda can and turned to her. “Want to see what’s on TV at this hour?”
“Logan, it’s 2 AM; the only thing on TV
now is X-Rated movies or porn,” she complained.
“So?” he grinned, teasing her. She playfully slapped him, to which he replied,
“We could watch something else.”
“Might as well; I can’t sleep anyway, and obviously you can’t either. May as
well be insomniacs together.”
“Okay then,” he said heading to the rec room.
He popped a movie in and sat down on the couch beside Jean. He rested his arm
on the back of the couch behind her, and before long, she had cuddled up next
to him, laying her head on his shoulder. He moved his hand and lightly began to
rub her shoulder. He looked down before long and realized she was sound asleep.
He held her in his arms for a few minutes before turning off the movie and
carrying her up to her bed. He covered her up and kissed her cheek softly.
“Good night, Jean,” he whispered before leaving for his room.
The
next morning Jean knocked on the door to the Professor’s office. “Do you have a
minute?”
“Of course,” he replied. “Have a seat.”
Jean smiled. “I need some advice on my predicament with Scott and Logan; I’m
sure you’re aware of it,” she stated.
“I am; Jean, I can’t tell you who to choose; only you can decide that for
yourself. I can, however, advise you of this: if your heart and head don’t agree,
follow your heart; your head will catch up to it later.”
Jean nodded. “I wish it were that simple. Professor,
is it possible to love two men at the same time?” she asked.
He thought for a moment on how to respond. “Jean, it is possible to love many
people at the same time; the difference is the degree to which you love them. I
believe your question is ‘Is it possible to be in love with two men at the same
time,’ to which the answer is ‘no.’ You should ask yourself which man you’re in
love with, and then I believe you will have your answer.” Seeing Jean nod, he
continued. “Don’t worry about the outcome of your
decision; if you choose Logan, Scott will get over it.”
“Thank you, Professor,” Jean said before leaving. As she was walking down the
hall, she spotted a strange woman walking down the hall.
“Excuse me; can you tell me if I’m heading the right way to get to Professor
Xavier’s office?” the woman said.
“It’s right down that way,” Jean said, pointing. “You
must be the new teacher Scott brought back; I’m Jean Grey,” she introduced
herself.
The woman smiled. “MacKenzie Sheridan, but most
people call me Mac,” the woman replied, shaking Jean’s hand. “Excuse me, I was supposed to be in the professor’s office 20
minutes ago.”
Jean immediately liked Mac. She had brown hair and eyes and was a little
shorter than Jean. (AN: I’m going by movie facts here, so Jean would be 5'11
and Logan would be 6'2). She seemed
friendly, too. Jean smiled to herself and decided to grab a late breakfast.
“Hey,” Logan said, walking into the kitchen
and seeing Jean at the counter. When she didn’t respond he walked over. “Jean?
Earth to Jean...”
“Sorry,” she replied. “I was thinking.”
“About what?”
She shrugged. “Nothing; thank you for last night,” she smiled at him.
“No problem.”
“I’m serious, Logan. You could have left
me on the couch or taken advantage of me, and you didn’t.”
He looked at her intensely. “You know I couldn’t do that to you.”
“Just the same, thank you,” she said, getting up from her seat. “I need to go,”
she said excusing herself. She had been avoiding Scott all morning and knew she
had to face him sometime. What she hadn’t told Logan was that she had been
thinking about her choices and who she was in love with. She’d decided that she
didn’t know what was developing between her and Logan, but she knew for a fact
she was no longer in love with Scott anymore.
“Where have you been all morning?” Scott asked when she walked in their
bedroom.
Jean hated when he interrogated her, but tried to keep calm. “Thinking about
us.”
“So you’ve made your choice, then? I trust you’ll stick to it this time.”
This ticked her off even more; he was really pushing her buttons this morning.
“Yes I have made my choice, but before I enlighten you, I thought I’d let you
know that I did stick to my choice; I didn’t cheat on you with Logan while you were gone. I
thought you trusted me; I thought you knew me better than that. Scott, there’s
really no easy way to say this; I think you and I should end our relationship
now, while we can still salvage a friendship. It’s obvious you don’t really
trust me like you should, and I just don’t feel the same way about you that I
once did.”
They ended up fighting and hashing out everything for a good two hours. They
both got angry, both yelled. It ended when Jean stormed out of the room in
tears, mixed emotions overwhelming her. She went outside, hoping she could
regain her composure before she ran into anyone. She saw Bobby and Rogue
sitting on a bench and hurriedly walked past them; then she saw Mac sitting at
a table with Logan. She was clearly
flirting with him, he was clearly flirting back, and both were clearly enjoying
it. This was all it took to push her over the edge. She began running.
Logan caught sight of her and sensed
she needed someone to talk to. “Excuse me,” he said, getting up and running
after her. He found her sitting against a tree, looking out over the lake.
“Jean, are you okay?”
“Why don’t you go back to Livvie, or Mac, or whoever
you decide to be with today?” she said angrily without turning around to look
at him.
“I get that you’re angry, and I’m not going to fight with you. You’re clearly
upset over something, and I don’t think it’s because I was getting acquainted
with Mac,” he said, cautiously walking over to where she sat.
“So you call that getting acquainted now? Why don’t you just sleep with her and
get it out of your system?”
“What?”
“That’s what you want, isn’t it? You can’t get in my pants, so you go out and
find any woman who’ll sleep with you...”
“Jean, you know that’s not what I want from you,” he interrupted her, forcing
himself not to lose his temper. “Why don’t you tell me what’s got you so
upset?”
“Well it sure seems that way. You men are all the same...”
“I see; you’re mad at Scott, and I happen to be in the direct line of fire,” he
said, sitting down beside her. “What did he do now?”
She finally looked at him. “I don’t want to talk about Scott; we’re over, and
that’s that.”
He saw the tear stains on her face, and his heart broke knowing that seeing him
with Mac probably added to them. “I’m sorry.”
She turned away from him again. “Bullshit. I don’t want your fake sympathy, Logan. Why don’t you just
leave me alone? I’m not going to leap into your bed, so you can stop with the
fake concern.”
“You want to be left alone; fine, you got your wish,” he said, getting up and
walking away.

Jealousy
(Part 3)
Logan quickly walked back to the
mansion, deciding to work his frustration out in the Danger Room. He changed
into some sweats and programmed the computer to simulate a difficult sequence.
He completed it with flying colors and–still needing
the vent–headed to the weight room. He continued his workout for a couple hours
before heading back to his room to shower. He’d just changed into some clean
clothes when he heard a knock on the door. He opened it and saw Jean standing
on the other side. “I don’t want to fight with you right now,” he said simply.
“I don’t want to fight with you either; I just wanted to apologize for the
things I said earlier today. You were trying to be there for me, and I was
horrible to you,” she replied. “If this is a bad time...”
“No, come in,” he suggested, sensing she needed to talk. “What’s on your mind?”
Jean sat cautiously on his bed and ran a hand through her hair. “I really am
sorry for how I treated you earlier,” she began.
“It’s okay; I probably should have given you more time to cool off before
chasing you; I guess my concern for you beat out my common sense.”
She offered a small smile. “I know you were worried about me, and that makes it
even worse that I pretty much bit your head off. You should be angrier with
me.”
“Aw, Jeannie, I can never stay angry with you for long; frustrated, yes, but
angry...” he replied, sitting in a chair across from her and taking her hand.
“So are you okay? I mean, you mentioned that you ended things with Scott.”
Jean sighed. “It was a long time coming; things just hit the fan, which was
most of the reason I was so angry this afternoon. I was still in fight mode, so
I wasn’t exactly thinking rationally.”
“That bad, huh?” Logan asked.
“You have no idea; I really have a temper if I get going, and Scott knows all
the right buttons to push to get me there...well, you get the idea; it wasn’t
pretty. But, thank goodness it’s over, and–short of the many tense moments I’m
sure are in the near future–I think we managed to salvage a friendship.”
Logan nodded. “That’s good, especially
since you have to work together,” he said. He wanted to ask if that meant he
now had the opportunity to pursue her, but he didn’t want to press the issue
and tick her off again.
“So, anyway, I came up to see if you wanted to have dinner with me tonight,
sort of my way to apologize to you for everything,” she smiled. She knew what
he wanted to talk about, but she wasn’t ready to jump feet first into another
relationship, no matter how much she was attracted to Logan.
“I would love to have dinner with you,” he replied.
“Good; everything’s ready, so just come with me,” she said, leading him down
the stairs and out to the lake where they had been earlier that day. There was
a blanket with dinner set out and a bottle of wine. It was a very romantic
setting, especially since it was a clear, warm night.
Logan took in the setting; maybe there
was hope for them after all. “If I didn’t know better, I’d say you were trying
to seduce me,” he teased, sitting down.
She rolled her eyes and smiled. “Well, it’s a good thing you know better,” she
replied. She hadn’t thought about it until now, but it was a rather romantic
setting. ((It’s going to be an interesting night,)) she told herself.
They
had a quiet dinner, full of small talk, mostly Logan’s way of keeping his
mind off of how beautiful Jean looked in the moonlight. They finished off the
bottle of wine and decided to talk a walk around the lake. After a few steps,
Jean slipped her hand into Logan’s; she hadn’t meant
for the evening to turn into a date, but it was headed that way.
They walked back to the mansion. It was getting late and Logan knew Jean had an early
class the next morning. Jean led the way to her new room, which was now located
a few doors down from Logan’s. She opened the door
and smiled at him.
“Want to come in for a few minutes?” she asked.
Logan shrugged. “Sure,” he said,
following her in. “Thanks for dinner.”
“Thank you for letting me apologize,” she replied.
“I told you, I understand,” he said. She smiled and moved a little closer. “Um,
it’s late, so I should probably be going.”
“Your room’s only three doors down; we could watch some TV or something,” she
suggested, not ready for the evening to be over just yet. She took his hand and
led him over to her bed, where she stretched out and turned on the TV.
Logan stared at the bed a moment. He
dreamed of her leading him to her bed, but watching TV had nothing to do with
it. She had the TV on the news. ((Well, there’s nothing romantic on the news,
so it’s probably safe,)) he told himself. ((Besides, she just broke up with
Scott, so she’s probably not used to being alone, yet.))
“It’s okay, I don’t bite,” she teased, patting the bed beside her. She knew
what he was thinking, and had to admit, she fantasized about leading him to her
bed a few times herself. She quickly shook those thoughts out of her head.
He stretched out next to her, cautiously putting his arm around her. He relaxed
a bit when he felt her relax against him, laying her head on his shoulder. “You
always watch the news before bed?” he asked.
((Wouldn’t he like to know what I did before bed every night,)) she smiled to
herself. “Not always, but there’s usually not much else on, and it’s to late to start a movie,” she said.
They watched the news in silence; when it was over, Logan got up to leave. Jean
followed him to the door. “Thank you for making me forget
about everything else tonight,” she said softly, kissing him softly. She pulled
away a few moments later. “I’ll see you tomorrow.”
“Tomorrow,” Logan said, walking back to his room.
Jean never failed to surprise him, and tonight was no exception. He didn’t know
how he’d expected the night to end, but kissing Jean wasn’t it; it was a
pleasant surprise, though, and he was just a little dazed by it. He would
definitely be seeing her tomorrow.
The
next morning Jean headed down to the kitchen to get coffee before her class
started. She had just poured her a cup when she felt Logan come up behind her and
wrap his arms around her waist. She tried hard not to react, calmly putting the
coffee pot back on the counter.
“Aren’t we Mr. Touchy-Feely this morning?” she smiled and turned around,
pulling out of his arms as she leaned against the counter sipping her coffee.
He put an arm on either side of her and leaned against the counter, bending
down enough to look in her eyes. “Can’t help it,” he grinned. “You’re single
now, so I can flirt with you and touch you without having to worry about
upsetting you.”
“Is that so?” she teased. She sensed Mac was headed into the kitchen; she
didn’t dislike Mac, but at the same time she knew that Mac was potential
competition for Logan if she didn’t claim
him first. She set her coffee cup on the counter, using her mind to slid it behind her as she slid Logan’s hand closer to her
until they were almost touching her waist again. “So touch me,” she challenged.
He did as he was told, lightly resting his hands on her waist. He reached up and
brushed a stray hair out of her eyes before leaning down and placing a gentle
kiss on her lips. “That didn’t upset you did it?”
“I haven’t decided yet,” she smiled, leaning in to kiss him again. Their lips
had barely brushed when Jean heard Mac clear her throat.
“Sorry, didn’t mean to interrupt anything,” Mac said.
“Can we help you with something?” Logan asked, slowly turning
around.
“Well, kind of; you’re blocking the coffee,” Mac smiled. “And just a heads up;
Scott’s on his way down.”
Jean looked at her. “You know about me and Scott?”
Mac nodded. “Almost the entire school does; when you two fight, you really
fight. Several students heard you and spread it around campus.”
“Great,” Jean muttered.
Mac poured her coffee before looking back at Jean. “Well, I’d love to stay and
chat, but I have to find my classroom.” She headed off in search of it, passing
Scott on the way out.
Scott glared at Jean and Logan. “Well, I see you wasted no time in moving on,”
he said.
“Shut up, Scott,” Jean replied, hoping that there wouldn’t be another scene.
Scott laughed. “Still want to be in control, huh? Is that really your type, Logan?” he added bitterly.
“Lay off her,” Logan warned calmly.
“I assume you got the good f*ck you wanted from her; it’s easy to get her into
bed, don’t you think?”
“I’m warning you, Summers,” Logan said, beginning to
lose his temper. Scott could say whatever he wanted to about him, but Logan wasn’t about to stand
there and let him bad mouth Jean.
“You’re warning me? What are you gonna do, slice me
up in front of Jean? Go ahead; let her see what an animal you really are,”
Scott challenged.
“You keep running your mouth, and I just might do that,” Logan threatened, stepping
closer.
“Just stop it!” Jean exclaimed, stepping between them. “Scott, we just need to
avoid each other as much as possible for a few weeks until you lose your
attitude; and Logan, don’t listen to what
Scott says; he’s mad at me, and he’s purposely baiting you. I appreciate you
wanting to defend me, but it’s not necessary.”
“I’m not going to stand here and let him bad mouth you, Jean,” Logan stated.
“Then don’t; just walk away, Logan,” she said. “I have to
get to my class,” she added, kissing Logan on the cheek and
walking out of the kitchen.
Logan stared at Scott. “I’m warning
you: keep your comments about Jean to yourself; she may not be there to stop me
next time,” he stated before walking out of the kitchen as well.
