"Dad! Mom says to ask you if I can go," Maddie said, finding her father in the kitchen.

"Where do you want to go?" Logan asked, looking up from the fridge.

Maddie shrugged. "Just out with some friends."

"Maddie, where? And which friends are you wanting to go with?" he asked.

"Well, Sydney is going," Maddie said. "And we just want to hang out at the mall."

"That's not what you told me," Jean said, coming in the kitchen. Logan raised his eyebrows. "You said you were going to the movies with Sydney, James, and Michael."

"MOM!" Maddie whined.

"What? When I told you to ask your father, it meant you had to tell him everything."

"Well, I told him most of it," Maddie defended herself.

"You conveniently left out the part about the movies and about James and Michael going along," Logan said. He looked at Jean wanting to know what she thought. "Why don't you let your mother and I talk this over first?"

Maddie saw that she wasn't going to get more from her parents, so she finally nodded and left.

"James and Michael? Aren't they a little old for her?" he asked, taking her hand and leading her out the back door to walk around the grounds as they talked.

"Technically, its just James she's interested in. Michael and Sydney are dating, you know," Jean explained.

"So basically, Maddie wants to double date? I don't know..." Logan said trailing off.

Jean smiled and squeezed his hand. "Logan, she's going to start dating sometime."

"I know...but I know how boys are; James is what, 15? At that age all he wants is to trick her into sleeping with him. I don't think I want my daughter going to a movie with a boy 2 years older than her who only wants to have sex," Logan said, stopping and pulling Jean to him.

"James is a good kid; I think he really does care about Maddie," Jean said, trying to persuade him to keep an open mind.

"I don't care how good a kid he is; guys only think about three things...girls, sex, and how to get them together; I should know," he stated.

Jean nodded, as Logan's arms went around her waist. "Ok, so guys think like that...generally speaking. You forget that I can read minds; James isn't thinking about that. He genuinely cares for Maddie, and he's worried you're going to slash him to bits with your claws for even asking Maddie to go to the movies with him. Come on, Logan, she'll be fine. You need to trust her, and let her grow up a little."

Logan sighed. "I trust her...its James I don't trust," he started. "Besides, I keep remembering our first date and it definitely taints my decision," he added with a smile.

Jean giggled at the memory. "There's a difference, Logan; we're adults, and we started off the night pretty sure we would sleep together."

"Speak for yourself. I wasn't sure about anything that night...except that you looked exceptionally sexy in that dress you were wearing. But I knew I was in love with you...these are just kids," he replied.

"Exactly...let them go out and have some fun. It's just a movie," Jean said gently.

Logan thought it over some more. "So you think we should let her go?"

"I think it'll be okay," Jean smiled. "Besides, Carter and Riley are away on the camping trip with Scott and Storm...as well as most of the students. We could be relatively alone for a few hours," she smiled mischievously.

Logan pulled her closer and kissed her neck. "You know, you're probably right," he said, kissing down to her shoulder.
