Description

This is a typical plastic case AA5 radio from the late 1950s. There is no model number or manufacturer name on the radio other than "Arvin". I am guessing it is Canadian made. The chassis is stamped RE392 which I matched with a model number of 956-T on the Internet. A label on the back indicates it was sold or serviced by Kingston Electronics in Kingston, Ontario.

Despite the fact that it is an AM only radio, it has two speakers. I suspect this was because at that time FM was becoming available and it made the radio appear to be competitive with 2 speaker FM (stereo) radios. It also has an unusual tone control which uses a knob and a separate vertical slide rule dial marked Bass/Treble. There is a phono input jack on the back. The line cord is covered in cloth but is still working.

As received, it was working. I cleaned it up but did not do any electrical restoration.
