Kiante's Page
Kiante died suddenly on May 30th , 2003. I miss him dearly and I will alsways remember his funny antics.
Kiante was my beardie, I believe he was about 4 years old when he passed away. I was only going to take care of him while my friend went off to college. . .
Then he stole my heart.
He lived in a 46 gallon aquarium with his favorite 'tree' and a couple other logs and such. His tree was lopped off awhile ago when he became too fat for the one branch. There was a crack and the poor thing was on the floor of his aquarium. The tree was plastic, but it just couldn't stand up to his growing body!
He then had to bask on the 'main structure', it was much more secure!!
Most of the time he liked to lay around, but every once in awhile he went crazy and decided he needed OUT! He would run back and forth and try to climb his cage. That was when I knew it was time for him to come out and run about. Yet he came out and rans to the wall and SMACKED into it and then trieds to climb that too.
Sometimes I wonder if he hadn't damaged his little brain, but I loved him anyways!
Kiante also discovered the screen door, he climbed that with my direct supervision, so that I could bring him back down instead of him deciding to jump!
Kiante was fed superworms (he got sick of plain crickets) and every other day got a nice helping of freshly cut up fruits and veggies. I tried to vary his food but he loveds his carrots so he tended to get some of them every time. He also liked apples, he didn't much care for his greens, so they had to be put on top, so he had no choice but to eat them!
Kiante was a sweetie, most of my friends found him a little scary, but if they only got to know him!! He never bite, but he puffed up a few times, but that was only because he got scared!! He didnt like my friend being loud and jumping about, so he turned to him, puffed up and hissed a bit. He made his presence known. My friend stopped immediatly!
Kiante got a little pissy every so often and puffed up for no reason, I would say it was PMS, but he was a HE, but we all know men (they get their own PMS, am I right?).
