Mar Jeannelle Bihag-Roldan is an opera singer, voice coach and stage actress. As a theater performer and opera singer, Jeannelle has premiered works of several National Artists. Most recently, she essayed the lead role of Maiea in the last major work of the late National Artist Lucresia Kasilag, the fantasy opera WHY FLOWERS BLOOM IN MAY performed at the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) Main Theater together with prima ballerina Lisa Macuja. Jeannelle also performed the role of Chayong in the last opera of the late National Artist Lucio San Pedro BAYAN, ISANG PAA NA LAMANG also at the CCP Main Theater, as well as the lead role of Victoria Laktaw in National Atrist Dr. Bien Lumbera's critically-acclaimed zarauela HIBIK AT HIMAGSIK NINA VICTORIA LAKTAW. Just last year, Jeannelle performed as the Princess with the Golden Voice in FUSION, the 2007 ROYAL LONDON CIRCUS, a Paul L.B. Lee Musical Circus production all across western Malaysia. As a bachelor's degree student at the University of the Philippines College of Music, Jeannelle was trained by the best music and theater luminaries in the country including Ryan Cayabyab, Mark Carpio, Cecilia Valena, Kitchie Molina, Fides Cuyugan-Asensio, Alexander Cortez, Rey Paguio, Montet Acoymo and Janet Sabas-Aracama. With the world-renowned UP Concert Chorus, Jeannelle has toured the USA, Canada, Australia, Japan, the Netherlands, Italy, Spain, Austria, Germany, Sweden, Norway, Denmark and the United Kingdom. Jeannelle debuted as an important soloist in Cantonigros, Spain, where she sang the solo part in Ryan Cayabyab's MISA together with the UP Concert Chorus. She was also chosen as soloist in the 2003 EUROPA CANTAT FESTIVAL in Barcelona, Spain, as well as Vaughn Wiliiams' SERENADE TO MUSIC performed with the Netherlands Youth Orchestra at the 2003 ABERDEEN INTERNATIONAL YOUTH FESTIVAL in Scotland, United Kingdom. Jeannelle also performed in the Repertory Philipines' production of HANSEL AND GRETEL with stage director Zenaida Amador and the UP-PCCA production of the spanish zarzuela LA VERBENA DE LA PALOMA with director Ogie Juliano. She has also represented the country as a featured artist together with her husband Raymond Roldan at the 2001 TAIWAN INTERNATIONAL TRADE FAIR at the World Trade Center in Taiwan. With her husband Raymond Roldan, Jeannelle has toured the country as the SINGING SWEETHEARTS, where they have sung to audiences among them the Prince Andrea Casiraghi of Monaco, Jose MAri Chan, Sen. Ed Angara, Ramon Magsaysay, Jr., Oscar Orbos, Raul Roco, Imelda Marcos, Gov. Vilma Santos, US Ambassador Mossumeli, Ex-Pres. Fidel V. Ramos and President of the Philippines Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. Throughout her singing career, Jeannelle has also performed with the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra, Metro Manila Community Orchestra, Manila Symphony Orchestra, UP Festival Orchestra, Sacramento Symphony Orchestra, Velvet Mood Music Ensemble and the Crosswave Symphony Orchestra. Aside from performing, Jeannelle has also worked as voice workshop instructor and voice coach at the ABS-CBN Center for Communication Arts, Inc,. (CCAI), Philippine Opera Company and GMA 7's Starstruck Kids where she coached the likes of Heart Evangelista, Kyla, Karylle, Sandara Park and Star Circle Batch 13. As a future leader in the performing arts, Jeannelle completed a course in the MANAGING THE ARTS certificate program of the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) under Dr. Cecile Manikan. |
