Unfinished Business
A.
The last thing that Amy remembered was the thunder that scared her and caused
the lights to go out. She couldn't remember how she got into Lennon's limousine
or how she managed to travel through time. The only thing that remained in her
mind were the candles around her, John's pictures and the Beatles music that was
coming from the record player in her room. John was next to her now, and he
looked old and tired. The driver turned left on the next corner and told them to
get ready.
"I told you the song sounded weak. I should put the trumpet in!"
John said and Amy nodded but she didn't know what he was talking about. At first
she thought it was a dream but it looked so real! The limousine pulled over in
front of the Dakota building. Amy opened the door as if she knew what to do, and
got out. John got out after her. As she approached the front door, she passed
through a strange man. He said hi but she didn't reply. Something about him was
annoying. John gave him a hard look and told Amy that he had seen him before,
standing there with his devilish look. Amy couldn't speak but she smiled as John
put his hand to her back, just to protect her. Before they reach the door, the
strange man pulled a gun out of his pocket and called John
"Mr. Lennon?"
John turned around to see the guy that was calling, and the man fired twice. Amy
turned frightened and saw her idol fall down and call for help
"I'm shot! I'm shot!!"
he screamed as the man fired another three times. Tow of the bullets hit John on
his shoulder and one hit the car. Amy run to him and hugged him strongly, as she
was trying to think something. The limousine driver called the security and the
security guard pressed the alarm button on his desk. After 15 minutes the police
was there. John had lost a lot of blood and couldn't speak. Amy didn't know what
was going on, but the man that she always loved, was killed in front of her
eyes, and she didn't do anything to help him. One of the police cars took John
to the hospital. Another one took Amy and the girl who worked for her. After
half an hour, they were both in the hospital, waiting for the doctors. Amy
couldn't stop herself from crying while the young girl tried to comfort her. How
can this happen to her? She wanted something to happen and make her wake up.
Three hours later, the doctor came out and confirm John Lennon's death.
"I'm so sorry Mrs. Lennon!"
he said but Amy didn't notice his words. She was crying with all her strength,
as if he will come back. The door of the hospital section that Amy was in,
opened and Paul McCartney got in. His face looked sad and worried. He hugged Amy
and tried to kiss her in the forehead but he was too nervous.
"Everything is gonna be alright! Don't worry!"
Amy should faint at the site of Paul but she was too confused and sad to think
of anything else.
"It's all my fault! All mine! I could do something and I didn't!"
Paul whispered that it wasn't her fault and that she should get some rest. He
took her and the young girl from the hospital to his house. The night passed
with Amy thinking of John and the event that just happened, crying and cursing
herself for her actions. She could do something, she was too close to him, she
almost wished time could go back for her, but it was like she was already in the
future.....
B.
Amy opened her eyes slowly. She was lying at her bed and it wasn't December,
like she lived before, but March! It was 1964 and she was back in her time! Amy
got up and got dressed. She wanted to be perfect for her takes in United artists
studio. She would play at that Beatles movie no matter what happens, no matter
the awful dream that was still in her mind. In 10 minutes with the bus, she was
there. The producer and the director were discussing about a scene while the
four boys were on the stage, waiting for the filming to begin. She came closer
and asked the dresser for her suit. She would play one of the dancers but it was
enough for meeting her dream man, John Lennon. One of the girls stood next to
Amy and told her that John couldn't stop looking at her.
"Get out of here! Why he would look at me?"
"Do you want an autograph of him?"
said the girl without paying attention to what Any was saying. She nodded a yes
and the girl approached the four men holding two pictures
"Excuse me! My friend and I would like an autograph from each of you! Will you
give us the pleasure?"
"We can't say no!"
said John and winked at Amy. She smiled at him and felt her face red. After they
finished signing, the girl looked at Amy's autographed picture and laughed,
"Look at John! He filled the picture with kisses!"
it was true! The other three had given two kisses each while John had filled
half of the picture with them!! Amy looked at John who wasn't looking and
smiled. She was really happy she had already forgotten the nightmare.

After the shooting was complete, Amy took her stuff and got ready to get out of
the studio, when the producer send for her. She was surprised by his kindness
when she got into his office, but something wasn't right with him. He gave her a
script and sat next to her
"I liked you very much in those five scenes and I'm wondering if you want to act
in my next motion picture!"
Amy was thrilled but when the man started coming closer, she tried to get up and
tell him that she would think about it, but he didn't let her. He tried to kiss
her but before she scream, the office door opened and John Lennon got in with a
surprised look at his face.
"What's going on here?"
"Please help me!"
cried Amy and hide herself behind John. The producer tried to explain the
situation but John got him from his collar and warned him that if he does that
again, he will break his arms! After giving him a nice punch, he took Amy's hand
and got out of the studio. "Thank you so much" said Amy and gave John a kiss.
"See you tomorrow" the boy said and walked away. Amy took a cab to her place
while she was thinking of the whole situation. John was really kind with her but
he was married, wasn't he? The last thought came to her from an advertisement
she saw when she got out of the taxi. It was saying:
"Beatle John Lennon was secretly married and divorced within one year. The press
can't follow his actions any more! He is playing with all of us!"
Amy looked at the front page of the news paper and smiled. He's fooling
everyone, but he's available! When she got home, she realized that she had a
message waiting for her in the mail box. She opened it and read the content with
surprise. Paul McCartney was the one who wrote her. He wanted to see her
immediately next morning. Was it a joke? She decided to go the place Paul wrote
on the note, and find out there.
C.
"The reason I asked you to come here is John. I think you know, and I'm sure you
remember."
Amy was sitting next to Paul in a very famous cafe near the beach. She still
couldn't believe that he wrote her for a meeting but by the time they were
there, she thought that Paul picked the wrong girl. "I'm sorry, I don't know
what you're talking about", Amy told him, but he insisted she knew about the
case. "It's something unbelievable to me too. At first I thought it was a
nightmare, I tried to forget it, but the more I worked with John, the more I
recalled the dream. I think it's real. It really happened..." as Paul was
speaking, Amy begun to understand what he was talking about. "Can you please
describe your dream?" she asked Paul, and he said that he is trying to forget
it, but he couldn't. "I saw that I was old and I was working alone. You were
John's wife, and you were living in New York. One night, someone from the police
called me and told that John was killed. When I got to the hospital, you were
there, crying! When I saw you yesterday, that event started burning me inside. I
couldn't believe I would meet the girl I saw in my dream! I hope you
understand!"
Amy did understand him. But his dream was like he was seeing the event from
another side. Even though she found someone to share her fear, she didn't tell
him her side of the dream. "I don't remember anything of what you tell me. What
do you think that I was in that event? It was just a dream and dreams are not
real. You just saw someone who looks like me." said Amy, and Paul nodded with
understanding. After a couple of minutes, Paul smiled at someone behind Amy, and
when she turned, she was about to faint. John, with his leather hat and jacket,
and a pair of sun glasses, was waving at them. His smile made Amy close her eyes
and pray "God, please, let him come here! let him come!". Paul told john to join
them, and he did with pleasure.
The bed was full with dresses and shirts Amy was trying out. She wanted to be
perfect for the date Paul set up with John and her. Paul's words still
frightened her. In about five minutes, John would be on the doorstep and his
smile would make her feel better. Suddenly, everything turned black and Amy felt
like she was going to that horrible place again. She tried to sit down and pull
herself together again, but John's face kept coming to her mind. The doorbell
brought her back to the reality. It was him, with his best outfit and a bunch of
roses, waiting to see her smile.
"I can't believe Paul set this date up!" Amy said when she realized that John
was too astonished to speak. He agreed with her and laughed. Everything seemed
so perfect as they walked together to a cafe near the studio that the Beatles
recorded. Both of them could realize that they were made for each other. But
wasn't that a little too perfect? Amy wanted to ask John about the nightmare .
If Paul saw it, John should too! She just wanted to find the right time to start
that conversation. The weather was beautiful and the only thing John said was
the compliments to his wonderful girl. But two blocks away, a man was standing,
watching their every move.
"Aren't you gonna tell me about yourself? You know all about me from interviews
and TV but I know nothing!" Amy agreed with John's question so she tried to say
something about herself, her family, how she got to London and other things that
came into her mind. She talked almost about everything but not the dream.
Something inside her was saying that it's not right. Not prudent to talk about
that. She was afraid that John will laugh , that all of this were just a
coincidence! So she remain silent and listened to John's comments. At the end of
their date, John walked her back to her house and kissed her on the cheek. "Good
night" he said and left. Amy was so happy that she wanted to talk to someone.
But who could understand her? Her glance caught the note with Paul's phone
number. "Let's give it a try" she said and dialed the number
"Hello?"
"It's me Paul, Amy!"
"How was the date? Tell me that it went well!"
"Well, as it could! He kissed me on the cheek"
"Not good!"
"Excuse me?"
"I'm sorry Amy, but John is not the kind of guy who doesn't want to go quick, if
you know what I mean....oh, one other thing. Do you think the story was that
way? Why do you think he divorced his wife so quickly? They were fine. Something
is bothering him, and you are the only one who can help him!"
Amy sighed and hung up.
D.
The other day, John didn't call her. She knew that he didn't like her and Paul
was wrong with the wife thing. She wasn't gonna be Mrs. Lennon, and the dream
will never become true. Amy did some cleaning and went to work. She had an
unfinished scene to do. A scene in a bar, with John and she had to do it
although she didn't want to see them, especially John.
"Good morning everyone! Let's start so we can end sooner!" said the director and
everyone took their position. "Hey!" said John but Amy didn't answer. She was
talking with a girl. "Please Amy, don't ignore the poor little man who's begging
you!" John said on his knees. Everyone laughed but not Amy. He smiled at her and
she smiled back. "Alright, good morning John!"
The shooting completed and the actors of that scene were about to leave. Paul
ask to talk with Amy, so she stayed a little longer.
"I'm sorry about yesterday. I know that he likes you now!"
"How do you know that?"
"Well, he talked to me about you! He never does that unless it's for a really
special girl"
Amy smiled. Was that true? She asked Paul about John and what he said about her,
but Paul promised not to tell anything.
"oh, alright, you swine!" she said and they both laughed.
