Our delegations are dependent on the security and political situation.
Previous solidarity trips have focused on conferences and study. This effort
is different; the goal is to have a significant contribution to the struggle
for human rights and peace, with nonviolent direct action (NVDA) as the
chosen means. Some groups - Israeli and Palestinian - have been using NVDA
for a number of years. These organizations will be our partners on the
ground. The following is a list of possible activities, to be determined
by each delegation in consultation with our partners.
| Checkpoint monitoring |
Standing near checkpoints and monitoring the
behavior of Israeli troops. |
| Witnessing |
Visits to sensitive areas to act as a moderating
presence. Hebron for example. |
| Obstructing home demolitions and tree uprootings |
As foreigners, we will not necessarily put ourselves
in a position to get arrested. |
| Rebuilding homes, planting trees |
A visible sign of resistance to the occupation. |
| Acting as human shields |
Spending time in an area under threat of Israeli
attack. |
| Removing blockades |
With bare hands, if need be. |
| Bringing food/supplies to blockaded areas |
An idea from the CPT. |
| Outreach to tourists |
Distributing flyers at hotels, bus meeting points,
US Consulate, etc. |
| Demonstrating |
If there are protests at that time, we can show
up as a visible presence. |
