33 Behold, Yehovah, Yehovah Sabaioth, shall lop the bough with terror: and the high ones of stature shall be hewn down, and the haughty shall be humbled.
34 And He shall cut down the thickets of the forest with iron (These are Sennacharib's own figures of himself. See 2 Kings 19:23. Cp. 29:17. Ezek.31:3-8. Note the contrast in 11:1.), and Lebanon shall fall by a mighty one.
11)
1 But (note the same order of events in Rev.19 and 20, as in Isa.10 and 11) there shall come forth a sprout (occ. only again in Prov.14:3. Note the sublme contrast with 10:33,34) out of the stump of Jesse (appropriate for Jesse, not David), and a Shoot shall grow out of his roots (or Scion. Heb. nezer. Nothing to do wth "Nazareth". See Matt.2:23. Not the same word as in 4:2; see note there):
2 And the spirit (Heb. ruach. Same word as "breath" in v.4, and "wind" in v.15) of Yehovah shall rest upon Him (cp. 61:1. A prophecy which is appropriated by Christ [Luke 4:16-21]), the spirit of wisdom and discernment, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the reverence (or love) of Yehovah;
3 And shall make Him of quick understanding in the reverence of Yehovah (or, His delight shall be; or, the reverence of Yehovah shall be fragrance to Him. Cp. Gen.8:21. Lev.26:31): and He shall not judge after the sight of His eyes (cp. 1 Sam.16:7), neither administer judgment after the hearing of His ears:
4 But with righteousness shall He judge the impoverished (or reduced. See Prov.6:11), and set right with equity for the meek of the earth: and He shall smite (same word as in v.15) the oppressor (some codices read ‘ãriz, "the oppressor", for erez, "the earth". This reading is confirmed by the Stucture of the clause [which is an Introversion]:
g He shall smite the oppressor
h with the rod of His mouth,
h and with the blast of His lips
g shall He slay the lawless one.
This reading ["oppressor", for "the earth"] depends on whether the first letter is Aleph or Ayin. If with Aleph the word is ’erez, earth; and if with Ayin it is ‘ariz, oppression. These two letters are often interchanged. See Pss.28:8; 35:15. Mic.1:10. Hos.7:6. he Massorah contains several lists of words in which these leters are interchanged): with the rod of His mouth, and with the breath of His lips (ruach = blast, as in Ex.15:8; 25:4; 37:7. 2 Kings 19:7) shall He slay the lawless one (Heb. rãshã‘. Cp. Thess.2:8).
5 And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins.

6 The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid (of the goat); and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together;
and a youth shall lead them.
7 And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox.
8 And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the viper's den.
9 They shall not hurt nor destroy in all My holy mountain: for the earth shall asssuredly become full of the knowledge of Yehovah (this is the sign of the fulness of blessing. See 1:3; cp. 6:3. Num.14:21), as the waters cover the sea.
10 And in that day there shall come to be a sapling of Jesse, (qouted in Rom.15:12) which shall stand for an ensign of the peoples; to it shall the nations seek: and His rest shall be glory.

12 And He shall set up an ensign for the nations, and shall gather in the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth (Note these two words as applied respectively to Israel and Judah: the former, masc; the latter, fem.).
13 The envy also of Ephraim shall depart (fig., put for the whole 10 Northern Tribes), and the adversaries of Judah shall be cut off: Ephraim shall not envy Judah, and Judah shall not vex Ephraim.
14 But they shall flee upon the shoulders of the Philistines toward the west; they shall spoil the sons of the east together: they shall lay their hand upon Edom and Moab (see 15:1); and the sons of Ammon shall obey them.
15 And Yehovah shall utterly destroy the gulf of the Egyptian sea; and with His mighty wind (= the full force, spirit, or blast, as in v.4) shall He shake His hand over the river (i.e. the Euphrates)>, and shall smite it in the seven streams, and make men go over dryshod (Heb. in shoes).
16 And there shall be a highway for the remnant of His People (see 7:3), which shall be left, from Assyria; like as it was to Israel (see Ex.14:22) when he came up out of the land of Egypt.

2 Behold, El (Eng. God) is my salvation; I will confide in, and not be afraid: for Yah, Yehovah is my strength and my song (see Ex.15:2); He also is become my salvation.

1 The prophetic oracle (or warning. This begins the 4th great division of the Book. See the Structure at intro. See also Num.24:3) of Babylon (this takes presedence, and stands for Chaldæa generally. It reached its height about 100 years later, under Nabopolassar and his son Nebuchadnezzar. A generation later it was captured by Cyrus and Darius the Mede. Babylon was of little importance at this time), which Isaiah the son of Amoz did see.
2 Lift you all up a banner upon the high mountain, exalt the voice to them, shake the hand, that they may go into the gates of the nobles.
3 I have commanded My seperated ones(here = the armies of the Medes and Persians), I have also called My heros for My anger, even My proudly exulting ones.
4 The noise of a multitude in the mountains, like as of a great people; a tumultuous noise of the kingdoms of nations gathered together: Yehovah Sabaioth musters the host of the battle.
5 They come from a far country, from the end of heaven (i.e. from afar), even Yehovah, and the weapons of His indignation, to destroy all the land [of Chaldea].
6 Howl you all; for the Day of Yehovah is at hand (fig. put for the events or judgments which shall take place in it = The Millennium [i.e. the 1,000 year reign of Christ here on earth]. See 2:12. occurs 15 other places in O.T. 4 x 4 = 16 = Love [#4 = Creative works of God [earth]. See v.9. Ezek.13:5. Joel 1:15; 2:1,11,31; 3:14. Amos 5:18,20. Obad. 15. Zeph.1:7,14,14. Mal.2:5); it shall come as a destruction from the All-bountiful One (Heb. Shaddai).
7 Therefore shall all hands be faint, and every mortal's heart shall melt:
8 And they shall be afraid: pangs and sorrows shall take hold of them; they shall be in pain as a woman that travails: they shall be amazed one at another; their faces shall be as [faces of] flames.
9 Behold, the Day of Yehovah comes, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and He shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it.
10 For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in His going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine (because Yehovah is the Light of the world. He will outshine all!!!).
11 And I will punish the habital world for their evil, and the lawless for their iniquity; and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible.
12 I will make a mortal more precious than fine gold; even a human more than the golden wedge of Ophir.
13 Therefore I will shake the heavens, and the earth shall remove out of her place, in the wrath of Yehovah Sabaioth, and in the day of His fierce anger.
14 And it shall be as the chased roe, and as a sheep that no man takes up: they shall every man turn to his own people, and flee every one into his own land.
15 Every one that is found shall be thrust through; and every one that is joined unto them shall fall by the sword.
16 Their babes also shall be dashed to pieces before their eyes; their houses shall be spoiled, and their wives ravished.
17 Behold, I will stir up the Medes against them (here only "Medes". In 21:2, "Persians ad Medes". In 45:1 Cyrus named. The order is chrnological), which shall not regard silver; and as for gold, they shall not delight in it.
18 Their bows also shall dash the young men to pieces; and they shall have no pity on the fruit of the womb; and their eyes shall not spare sons.
19 And Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Chaldees' excellency, shall be as when Elohim overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah (see 1:9).
20 It shall never be inhabited (see 25:8.. Cp. 14:4-23; 15:6,7; 21:9; 34:11; 46:1; 47:1-11. Jer.25:12-14; 50:1-46; 51:1-64), neither shall it be dwelt in from generation to generation: neither shall the Arabian pitch tent there; neither shall the shepherds make their fold there.
21 But wild beasts of the desert shall lie there; and their houses shall be full of doleful creatures (probably hyenas); and owls shall dwell there, and satyrs shall dance there (goat-shaped demons worshipped by the Seirites [Edom]. Cp. Lev.17:7. 2 Chron.11:15; 25:14).
22 And the jackals of the islands shall cry in their desolate houses, and dragons (or wild dogs) in their pleasant palaces: and her time is near to come, and her days shall not be prolonged.
14)
1 For Yehovah will have mercy on Jacob, and will yet choose Israel (see 1:29), and make them rest in their own soil (cp. v.3): and the sojourners (or foreign proselytes. Isiah sees far beyond the Captivity. See 5:17. Thus, the mention of strangers is not confined to latter part of Isaiah ass alleged by some) shall be joined with them, and they shall cleave to the house of Jacob (see 2:5).
2 And the peoples shall take them, and bring them to their own place (see 49:22; 60:9; 66:20): and the house of Israel (see 5:7) shall possess them in the land of Yehovah for servants and handmaids (this is to be fulfilled at a later day: still future [49:23; 60:9-14; 61:5]): and they shall take them captives, whose captives they were; and they shall rule over their oppressors (cp. 60:14).
3 And it shall come to pass in the day that Yehovah shall give you rest from your sorrow, and from your fear, and from the hard bondage wherein you were made to serve,
4 That you shall take up this triumph-song (see Num.23:7,24; 24:3,15,20,21,23. Mic.2:4. Hab.2:6. Job 27:1; 29:1) against the king of Babylon (One of the names for the Antichrist. See Dan.7:8. Babylon = Confusion), and say, “How has the oppressor ceased! the golden city ceased! (or exactress of gold. Some codices read "opression". I.E, How did that happen to you!)
5 Yehovah has broken the staff of the lawless ones, and the sceptre of the rulers (i.e. the fake ones).
6 He who smote the peoples in wrath with a unremitting stroke, he that trod down nations in anger, with an unsparing persecution.
7 The whole earth is at rest (one-woldism), and is quiet: they break forth into singing.
8 Yes, the fir trees rejoice at you (symbolic of our people. Cp. 37:24; 41:19; 55:13; 60:13), and the cedars of Lebanon, saying, ‘Since you are laid low, no feller is come up against us’. (It refers to Nebuchadnezzar's and Esar-haddon's cutting down, as recorded in their Inscriptions, p.58 [published by Oppert, Paris, 1865]. They tell how they "Brought the greatest trees from the summits of Lebanon to Babylon". Nebuchadnezzar moreover boasts that he will do it in his message to Hezekiah [37:28])
9 The grave from beneath (Heb. Sheõl) is moved for you to meet you at your coming: it stirs up the dead for you (i.e. fallen angels, Rephaim. See Gen.6:2,4. Cp. 26:14,19), even all the chief ones of the earth; it has raised up from their thrones all the kings of the nations. (See Acts 13:41)
10 All they (i.e. the dead) shall speak and say to you (fig., by which the dead are represented as speaking), ‘Are you also become weak as we? are you become like unto us? (he, Antichrist, is nothing super)
11 Your pomp is brought down to the grave, and the noise of your viols: the worm is spread under you, and the worms are your coverlet. (a picture of spiritual degregation. Cp.66:24. Mark 9:44,46,48)
12 How are you fallen from heaven (Michael boots him out! See Rev.12:7-10. 2 Thess.2:3), O Lucifer (= Morning star [or bright star], i.e. the fake morning star. For evey name Christ is called, Satan tries to copy. See Rev.17:11. Worshipped by the Assyrians as male at sunrise, Female at sunset), son of the morning! how are you cut down to the ground, which did subdue the nations! (he, Satan, will be cast down defacto in person)
13 And you said in your heart (he thought), I will mount up into the heavens, I will exalt my throne above the stars (i.e. the children) of El (Eng. God): I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation (Not Zion, but the divine assembly of judgment. Cp. Pss.75:2; 82:1. Ezek.28:12-14. Pretending to be God.), in the recesses of the north (place of Throne of God. This helps us to localize the dwelling place of God. No "Semitic conception", but Divine revelation of Him Who kows what Satan "said in his mind". Cp. Ps.75:6. Job 26:7):
14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like Elyõn [the Most High].’ ("Rapture" claim. See Ezek. 13:18-23)
15 Yet you shalt be brought down the grave, to the recesses of the pit (i.e. abyss).
16 They that see you shall narrowly look upon you, and consider you, saying, ‘Is this the man that made the earth to quake, that did shake kingdoms; (Cp. Rev.20. They [the politically correct] thought he, Satan, was Christ.)
17 That made the habitable world as a wilderness, and <destroyed the cities thereof (no safety, a jungle. See Mal.4); that losed not of his prisoners?’
18 All the kings of the nations, even all of them, sleep in state (or honour), every one in his own burial-house. (or mausoleum. 1 Kings 2:10,34. 1 Sam.25:1; 28:3. Ecc.12:5)
19 But you are flung out (out, or far away) of your sepulcre like a detested [or despised] scion, and as the raiment of those that are slain, thrust through with a sword, as those that go down to (some codices read "upon", another, "up to") the stones (cast upon those who were bured. No word has "evidently dropped out" of v.20; for v.19 does state that they were buried, but he was not) of the pit (a rock-hewn burryingplace, as in Pss.28:1; 30:3; 88:5. Heb. bõr. See Gen.21:19, showing the sense in which we are to understand Sheõl in vv.11,15. Cp. English word "bore". Heb. bõr is rendered cistern, 4 times; dungeon, 13; fountain, 1; well, 9; pit, 39 times); as a carcase trodden under feet.
20 You shall not be joined with them in burial, because you hast destroyed your land, and slain your people: the seed of evildoers shall never be renowned.
21 Prepare a slaughter-house (or, instruments of slaughter) for his sons for the iniquity of their fathers (see Ex.20:5); that they do not rise, nor possess the land, nor fill the surface of the world with cities.” (the triumph-song which began in v.4 ends here)
22 “For I will rise up against them,” says Yehovah Sabaioth, “and cut off from Babylon the name, and remnant, scion and seed (or, son and son's son),” says Yehovah.
23 ”I will also make it a possession for the bittern, and pools of water: and I will sweep it with the besom of destruction,” says Yehovah Sabaioth.
24 Yehovah Sabaioth has sworn (See Deut.1:8; 2:14; 4:31, &c.), saying, “Surely according as I have intendd, so shall it come to pass; and as I have purposed, so shall it stand: (cp. 46:10,11. Job 23:13. Pss.33:9, 10; 92:5. Prov.19:21; 21:30. Lam.3:37. Matt.11:25. Acts 4:28. Eph.1:9)
25 That I will break the Assyrian (another name for the Antichrist, Satan) in My land, and upon My mountains tread him under foot: then shall his yoke depart from off them, and his burden depart from off their shoulders. (see Deut.27:40. NEVER at any time did Assyria have a yolk on the whole world!)
26 This is the purpose that is purposed upon the whole earth: and this is the hand that is stretched [in judgment] out upon all the nations. (i.e. the right hand of God)
27 For Yehovah Sabaioth has purposed, and who shall disannul it? and His hand is stretched out, and who shall turn it back?”

28 In the year that king Ahaz died (cp. 6:1) was this rod (i.e. Babylon).
29 Rejoice not you (i.e. at the death of Ahaz, and because the Davidic dominion was broken by the Syro-Ephraimitic war), whole Philitia, because the rod of him (i.e. the Davidic power, and Yehoshua) that smote you is broken: for out of the serpent's root shall come forth a viper (that was how Philistia regarded Judah and Ahaz. See 11:8, which they would find in his son Hezekiah in the immediate future [ 2 kings 18:8]), and his fruit shall be a fiery flying serpent. (this is what the enemy called our people)
30 And the firstborn of the poor shall feed (= the poorest of the poor. Hebrew idiom. Heb. dãl, impovrished, reduced. See 11:4. his looks forward to the fulfilment by Messiah, v.32. An appointed time is a time pre-arranged by our heavenly Father for certain events to transpire), and the needy shall lie down in safety: and I will kill your root with famine (see Amos 8), and he shall slay thy remnant.
31 Howl, O gate; cry, O city (fig., put for the people in them); you, whole Philistia, are dissolved: for there shall come from the north a smoke, and thereshallbe no stragglers (because we ALL changed into our spiritual bodies) at his appointed times. (see v.30. Its going to happen all at the same time)
32 What report shall the messengers [or ambassadors] the a nation take back? (one-worldism) This is the report that Yehovah has founded Zion, and oppressed ones of His People shall flee for refuge to it. (See Acts 17:19-26)
