Sir Clive has revealed several players refused to turn out in Newtown's defeat at Clodiagh. The 6-2 result in Clodigh was one of Newtown's final games in the premier division, following the club avoiding relegation from the top flight. The season was tarnished by the reluctance of some players to figure in many of the games.

Sir Clive refused to disclose who did not wish to play, but was astounded that some members of his squad were not prepared to feature. "Professional footballers who don't want to play - that's quite incredible really," said Sir Clive. "I wouldn't hang any individual out to dry, but there was certainly more than one who didn't want to play."

Meanwhile, Sir Clive has confirmed that only Colm O' Brien of his out of contract players will be offered a new deal. "I spoke to all of the players yesterday," added Sir Clive. "As a manager you have to do that face to face rather than through the media, but some players will have to go. "The only one I am having a conversation with is Colm O' Brien, as we had a chat on Friday. "Talks are ongoing with him and we'll see what happens after that
