Tamiya A6M2 Type 21 Zero
This kit is as almost as old as I am (well, nearly almost). When it was introduced in the late 1970's it was considered state of the art. It still holds up today but it's nowhere near today's state-of-the-art. Even though the molds have to be at least 30 years old they are still holding up well. The finely engraved detail is still there and is a mix of raised and recessed panel lines. You get two molded canopy options; open and closed. I built this kit strictly OOB and just added some CE posable seat belts (it needs these at least). Paint is Tamiya acrylics. The decals went on very well despite what others have said about them in the past. You get at least 5 different marking options to choose from. I went with the markings for Saburo Sakai's plane in early 1942. If you want an inexpensive Zero in 48th, this one is hard to beat.
