Title: A House On A Street, In A Town I'm From
Artist: The Panics

With a bunch of producers and recorded in different
sides of the world, A House On A Street is a
snapshot of a band that believes in itself and the
music it produces.  The Panics started at a young
age and have produced some fantastic and well-
received EP's.  This, their debut album, contains
tracks from both of their two EP's and the previously released single "Kid You're A Dreamer".  These songs, namely "This Day Last Year", "How's It Feel", "My Brilliant Career" and "Give Me Some Goodluck" are beautiful songs that can be listened to over and over.  "More Than You Wanted To Know" is good enough to be the next single and "I Give In" is spooky as it is cool.

Album Reviews
Title: Vulture Street
Artist: Powderfinger

With three very successful albums behind them
and one not so successful the 'Finger had alot to
live up to with Vulture Street.  Deciding to go
back to their Rock roots Bernard Fanning and
Co have created a very nice collection of Aussie
Rock songs.  With rock posters hanging up in the
studio, a decision to turn up the guitar sounds instead of the drum sounds and Mr Fanning drawing on personal emotions for lyrics, Vulture Street is a well-balenced blend of great song-writing and rockin' tunes.  On My Mind has been on the radio alot lately (maybe even too much) and it is a good indication of the rest of the album.  Rockin Rocks is a surprisingly perfect rock opener for the album, Sunsets has got to be the next single and there is a incredible acoustic version of it on the bonus DVD that comes with the album.  Other album highlights are Don't Panic, Stumblin' and Love Your Way.

Title: Lovers
Artist: The Sleepy Jackson

After alot of disturbances in the Sleepies camp,
their debut album is finally released with quite a
bit of hype surrounding it.  Luckily Luke Steele
was up to the challenge and delivered with an
album that will please both long time Sleepy
Jackson fans and new comers.  Much of the
experimental side of the band is missing from the album and songs from previous EP's are on the album but it still a magnificent collection of tunes.  Vampire Racecourse is a great rock song and the first single from the album, Come To This is classic Luke Steele and Morning Bird has some interesting vocals.  All in all congratulations to the local lads for a superb piece of work.

Title: Rock Music
Artist: The Superjesus

With former guitarist Tim Henwood leaving the
band to form international superstar band "The
Androids", The Supejesus were not looking too
good coming up to start writing their third
album.  Luckily singer Leah McLeod had what
it took to write a truly rock album.  This album sees The Superjesus back to their roots seen early in 1998's Sumo.  Radio friendly Stick Together is a more Jet Age type song and seeing that Henwood co-wrote that one it is not a surprise.  Going from two guitarists to just one could have mellowed The Superjesus but it has done the opposite and the album has many rock gems.  Over & Out is a stand out track, opener Shudder, Let It Go and Maniac are also great to crank out on a light weekend night.  There is still one soft song, So Lonely, on the album and it shows the genius voice of McLeod and the depth of the new three piece version of Adelaide's greatest band of the moment.

Title: Hail To The Thief
Artist: Radiohead

There are two types of Radiohead fans. The
fans that like the poppy type of Radiohead
(Creep, Karma Police etc.) and the fans that
like the experimental type of Radiohead
(Everything on Amnesiac and Kid A).  This
album is for the fans of the experimental Radiohead.  First single "There There" is one hell of a song and this is one hell of an album.  There has been a lot of experimental rock in the last few years and songs such as 2+2=5, Backdrifts and Scatterbrain show why Radiohead are kings of the genre.  There is much depth in each song ranging from the production to the lyrics and with a bit more structured experimentation (if there is such a thing), this should be a Radiohead release to really remember.

Title: On And On
Artist: Jack Johnson

While touring Australia with friend Ben
Harper, Jack Johnson had just about as
many fans coming to the shows as Harper
had, proving that he could have headlined
many of the shows.  For people that have
heard Johnson's first album Brushfire Fairytales, On And On continues the mellow, acoustic vibe.
Highlights of the album include the single The Horizon has been Defeated, Taylor, Dreams Be Dreams and Tomorrow Morning.  Symbol In My Driveway which is the last song on the album sets the mood very well with the ocean and people talking lightly in the background.  You can just imagine sitting in front of a fire on the beach in Hawaii listening to Jack play guitar.  The whole album is very bedroom chill.
Aloha.

Title: San Souci
Artist: Frenzal Rhomb

Not many bands release three songs before an album
is even released, but Frenzal Rhomb are not your
average band.  Like many TISM albums, San Souci
tends to have many songs that have hilarious titles
(eg. Stand Up And Be Cunted, Ballchef, World's Fuckedest Cunt) but really are not that special.  With a total running time of just under 35 minutes one would expect a decent release but this was a bit of a disappointment.  The DVD that has been packed as a bonus with the album must be to try and soften the punch of such a bad product.
Russel Crowe's Band is quite funny and Cocksucker grows on you but Frenzal Rhomb seem to have just whacked out an album just for the hell of it.
And what does San Souci mean?  It's French for 'No Worries'. What the fuck is that all about?

Title: Save The Ones You Love
Artist: Halogen

If you have ever seen Halogen live then you
should know how powerful and beautiful lead
singer Jasmine Lee's voice is.  With a few singles
behind them and fans building a strong following,
Halogen have got a bright future ahead of them.
The singles Walkaway, On A Bridge and Caught Me are highlights on this moody album with the latter getting high rotation on Triple J.  The track Parade must be the next single as it is both melodic and beautiful.
This is one of those albums that you can listen to all the way through and not even realise that the song ahs changed.  It is not that all the songs sound the same but each songs easily blends with all the other songs to make a complete album instead of a collection of songs.
The newly added second guitarist has allowed Halogen to put together the mellow sound that is Halogen and a newer heavier sound as well

Title: Suburban Kid
Artist: Bob Evans

Anyone fronting up to a quietly-advertised set by
Bob Evans would quickly note the familiar face of
Bob's notorious alter-ego, Kevin Mitchell (from the
ever-popular Jebediah). And much like the name,
that comfortable familiarity is as much a part of the
music. This debut recording, Suburban Kid, offers a set of intimate folk stylings that possess a simplicity we're all accustomed to, but rarely have time to indulge in. Easygoing pop sensibilities lead you into a relaxed lull with tracks like "My Big Mouth" and "Turn", while the sweeter acoustic melodies of "Photographs" and "She's Alone" identify with those oft-revisited memories and quiet reminiscence. "Ode To My Car" is a humorous song about a plodding old Mitsubishi, and gives you the sense of connection with your nostalgic climes. Track "Friday Come Five" is the most recognizable (with recent airplay on JJJ), and is the perfect radio-friendly introduction to the 'burbs we know and relate to. All in all, this album is nothing to excite those ears searching for original or progressive music. But the sounds would do well to accompany the daily thread of life and a mind searching for a pleasant distraction, if only for a short hour.

Title: Spencer Tracy
Artist: Spencer Tracy

Pop/Rock at it's finest with catchy hooks can be a
perfect description of the way Perth's own Spencer
Tracy play music.  With constant support by Triple J
and Nova songs such as "Disco King" and "Ocean"
have been heard and loved by many, many people.  "Ocean" even made it's way to number 1 on Triple J's Net 50.  Other songs such as "Capsize", "Long Gone", "Changes" and "Stupid" are other excellent pop songs that sound great turned right up.  Softer songs are also performed well and "Tonight" sounds as good as Smashing Pumpkins soft/loud number "Mayonaise".  Touring has helped Spencer Tracy increase their awareness nationally and this album will be loved by all that listen to it.

Title: Driving The Storm/Doctor Doctor
Artist: Gyroscope

This double A-Sided single shows every element that
Gyroscope have to offer.  From the hard rock "Driving
The Storm", the catchy pop of "Doctor Doctor" to the
two live b-sides proving the local lads are one of the
best live shows from Perth.  This release should satisfy the fans until the eagerly awaited debut album comes out later this year.  The lyrics seem a bit on the angry side but the music rocks only like Gyroscope can.
