I logged on to rejoice that I finished the proposal to the Fleet National Back Foundation & Philanthropic Services, but while waiting for the site to load I realized that I had forgotten to write an entire section: the dreaded EVALUATION.  "How will you evaluate your organization?" Blah, blah, blah.

"Well, if we manage to get the house built before November 1st comes (meaning we don't have to give back $40,000) then I guess we did OK."

Or, maybe not.  So I'm working on an extended version of the crap we always throw in (although usually just a paragraph, and not a whole section of the proposal) about numbers of volunteers, etc.

Great.

At least it's mostly finished--complete with colored charts!  I love charts, especially colored ones.  I really think they're the key.  :-)  Shh, don't give away my secret weapon.

Lori and Matt's wedding was beautiful, absolutely perfect.  I mean, they're made for each other and so it really didn't matter if it snowed, everything would have been lovely anyway.  Congrats, Lori and Matt!  You're now officially an old married couple.  :-)

It was nice to go back to Wisconsin for a few days, where there are street signs for
every street, and directional signs, and cows... there's something so comforting about a field of cows...

But even though I've been dragging a bit (the stress of everything happening at Habitat and in my sorry personal life is getting to me a bit, I think) I'm glad to be back.  I've got good friends here.  Seapking of which: Sarah's never been to Boston!  As soon as her financial aid comes in, I'm taking her to Boston for the day.  I love Boston.  Will someone please offer me a job so I can stay out here?

Oh!
Book Recomendation: The Final Confession of Mabel Stark A fascinating book--historical fiction--based on what's known about the life of the world's most famous female tiger trainer!
Here it is: the continuing saga of my experience as an AmeriCorps Vista volunteer in Worcester, Massachusetts.  I would love to hear from any other AmeriCorps volunteers or nonprofit employees--especially volunteer coordinators.  Email me--tell me what you think, or share your own experiences.  Together we'll survive this crazy nonprofit world!

Hello, Friday!  I checked out the Onion today, and finally my horoscope reading is a good one.  We can rejoice, Capricorns.  For once ours is not the lamest of the bunch!

"Capricorn: (Dec. 22—Jan. 19)
While it's true that love means different things to different people, you'll be saddened by how many people think it includes shiny objects."

The
breaking story about how the Supreme Court ruled that the American public is unfit to rule was also quite enlightening.  :-)

My main task for the day is to schedule interviews with the applicants who've made the cut.  Everyone I've called sounds so happy.  I love being the highlight of people's day. :-)

And, I stopped in to say hi to Janitor John, and now I have two movies (he's trying to get rid of a bunch of tapes):
Platoon and Full Metal Jacket.

My Fourth of July weekend will be rather dull, I think, but I'm going to enjoy it thoroughly none the less.  If nothing else, I can always do laundry (which I desperately need to do!)

Had a great thunder storm last night.  Spectacular lightening displays and really loud claps of thunder, some of which made me jump!
