Oops, I have been a most inattentive blogger this week.  I've been busy serving!  OK, not entirely true.  I have been busy, though.  And it has been a short week.

I'm trying to get the
Cans for Habitat program rolling here in Worcester.  I would like to set the start date for August st to coincide with the start of school.  I sent information to a church that had called looking for youth group activities.  And Monday I'm meeting with Assumption College, and I'll be pushing the Cans program in a big way.

I also think it would be cool to get all of the campuses to participate in a Sleep-Out in Institude Park in the fall.  That would be cool and highly visible.  It would take a bit of coordinating.  We would have to get city approval and some support from the police department.

Due to rain I cancelled the volunteer group yesterday, and of coures it ended up not raining very much at all.  Figures.  Oh well, what can you do?

I don't know why I can't get myself motivated to work more on these ideas of mine.  I think I'm an idea person.  I think, and others do.
Here it is: the continuing saga of my experience as an AmeriCorps Vista volunteer in Worcester, Massachusetts.  I would love to hear from any other AmeriCorps volunteers or nonprofit employees--especially volunteer coordinators.  Email me--tell me what you think, or share your own experiences.  Together we'll survive this crazy world of NGOs!
