Thirty Years +
~~~Then and Now~~~
Welcome to our J.J. Kelly High School Class of '72 Website! The 2002 30-Year Reunion has come and gone; however, we hope you will continue to visit the site on a regular basis to keep up with our wonderful classmates! By staying active on the site, we succeed in keeping "the spirit of the Class of '72 alive"! Thanks to all who have participated in making this site more successful than we ever dreamed!!!!
It is our desire to embrace our entire group of classmates -- not JUST those that walked down the aisle of the auditorium on that special night in May of 1972, but also those that shared our triumphs, joys and sorrows throughout our memorable years at Kelly. We are still seeking missing classmates, so if you started high school with us in 1968, or came along somewhere in between, but STILL would have graduated with us in 1972, please let us know. If you are one of those that had to venture on before '72 graduation, or know of someone that did, please contact us. In our hearts, we are ALL a part of the "Class of '72!!! Plans are in the making for a COMBINED REUNION in 2007, and it would be wonderful to find ALL of us together at that time. In addition, if you graduated from Kelly (no matter what year), or were a faculty member during our years there, you are welcome to come in, browse around, and leave your message on our Message Board or Guest Book.
I don't think it is presumptuous to say that everyone who attended the 2002 30th Reunion benefitted by spending some memorable hours together. Even though there were many activities planned (and we were all exhausted), each moment of our time together was enjoyable. We were all left with warm places in our hearts. Linda Via Hunsaker has copies of the reunion video and a CD of John's tribute song, so please email her if you haven't gotten yours already!!!
RECAP: Jim Baird, John Reeves, Bill Thompson and Tommy Joe McAmis gave wonderful speeches at the reunion dinner/dance. Jim gave a very personal welcoming speech -- and set the mood for a wonderful evening! John graced us with a song written especially for our class...and it was FABULOUS. In addition, he had us all ROLLING in the floor as he did a comedy routine especially tailored to our class. Bill Thompson provided us with a wonderful "Walk Down Memory Lane" that took us back in time....very nostalgic, cherished times that we should all strive to keep close to our hearts. Tommy McAmis gave a very heart-warming tribute to our departed classmates, and also led us in a wonderful prayer. Jim & Paula Baird made wonderful keepsake magnets made for reunion participants. They will be a wonderful reminder of the time we had together. Thanks to you all for making it a weekend to remember always!!!!
EVEN our Clean-Up Crew and the Decorations Crew had so much fun!!! It consisted of: Linda Via Hunsaker, Doug Hunsaker, Boone Gilliam Pritchard, Brenda Laney Ball and Steve and Debbie Dotson. After working so hard on cleaning up, we've decided to make Steve Dotson's wife, Debbie, an honorary member of the JJKHS Class of '72! Debbie, you were great!!!! Thanks so much!
We'd also like to recognize (and thank) Vic's Paint & Decorating in Norton, Virginia, for the use of the "Indian Mascot" which greeted everyone as they came through the door of the Fire Hall on the night of our reunion. I think the Indian got more attention than most of the men that evening...see the pictures available on the site (they tell the story)!!!
A very special "Thank You" goes out to our dear friend, Em at Serenity Designs/Ultimate Designs for the wonderful personalized graphics within our site. Em was by our side at the onset of this website, and has made such a tremendous contribution toward its existence. She has become so very special to us, and her generosity never ceases to amaze us! Take time to visit her site when you have the opportunity. She does some AMAZING work!
Please bookmark our site as a "Favorite" and take time to go through all our pages at your leisure. It is our hope that you will find out "everything you always wanted to know but were afraid to ask"...about our wonderful group!!!!!
