Trans Am Paint & Decals
Well, this is where I am at now on the restoration. The paint job is complete and the decals are installed. I was hoping to be able to take some pictures of the decal installation but I was unable to due to the fact we put them on at the body shop and it was near closing time so we did this in about thirty minutes. I will say that it was not to bad and the instructions that came with the decal kit was very helpful and the install went just as they said it would. The hood bird was by far the most difficult. You simply clean the area where the decals will be located with soap and water, tape the decal to the spot with masking tape, slit the tape at the edge so that it will give you a reference point, and then peel back the decal and coat HEAVILY with the soap water solution, then apply the decal. You then have about 30 seconds to get the decal in the spot where you want it to be and then that is it, its there for good. You then squeegee from the center of the decal outwards until all bubbles are removed. Oh, you will have some bubbles that will remain and the instructions state that this will happen, but it is not a big deal. You will just poke them lightly with a needle and the sun will take care of the rest. The next two pages is what the car looks like now and I will next start on the wheel clean up and polish, brake work, and the interior. When the time gets here, I will include the tuner instalation along with amp and double 8" subs I plan to somehow stuff into the trunk if possible. Its close but still a long way from complete...............
