Topic – Should young people be subjected to night-time curfews in South Korea? Why or why not? Youth curfews are very wide spread in United States and in England to ensure children’s safety. Curfew is a law stating that people must stay inside their houses after a particular time at night. Some people maintain that juveniles in Korea also should be subjected to night-time curfews. However, night-time curfews won’t work very effectively for the most part and people have rights to do whatever they want at night as long as they don’t commit crimes. People in Korea all know that mass private education is pressuring teenagers. Most of middle and high school students usually study in private academies until midnight or even later. If youth curfews are carried out in South Korea, are those who study very hard criminals? According to a survey, more than 75% of middle and high school students go to private academies and come home later than ten o’clock, midnight for high school students. Then government would have to limit the private education time or just prohibit it in order to make youth curfews an official law. Parents of teenagers would definitely oppose this law. Prohibiting youth to go out side at night means prohibiting private education and it cannot be done in a day. Taking all that into consideration, curfews in Korean will not be a practical law. There are people who need to go outside at night desperately. People have rights to do whatever they want at their own convenience.
