Patriot Quest
This is an optional study that runs from October through March. I sincerely hope that each of the students and their families would take the time to learn a little more about our country and help each child work toward becoming a Patriot of Today.
Requirements for attaining title Patriot of Today:
In order to satisfy the Patriot Quest requirements, you must complete each of the activities listed below. All students who successfully complete all of the activities below will be recognized as a Patriot of Today.
1. Write the Pledge of Allegiance correctly (using correct spelling and punctuation). Match key vocabulary words to their definitions.

2. Answer questions orally on flag etiquette.

3. Identify the President and Vice President of the United States, the State Senators from Maryland, and one of our Maryland Congressional Representatives. You will also be able to tell how long a term is for each above mentioned office.

4. Know the key facts about the Declaration of Independence, Constitution and Bill of Rights. Using a data fact bank, be able to list each fact under the correct document.

5. Recite the key phrase from the Declaration of Independence.

6. Recite the key phrase from the Preamble to the Constitution.
Mon., February 4, 2008
7. Paraphrase the first 10 amendments to the Constitution, known as the Bill of Rights.

8. Fill in the chart for the Branches of Government, what it does, and who is part of that branch.

9. Name and label the 50 states on a blank map. You will also be required to know the capital for each state.

10. Define and explain a Patriot. What does it mean to you to be a Patriot? How can you be a Patriot of Today?
