The Challenge of Change II

In the process of progress, we sometimes have to abandon some values that are comfortable and do not want to be removed. An American opera singer named Beverly Shields said, ¡°There is no shortcut where it seems possible.¡± It means that there is no easy way to progress. In other words, we need some prices we must pay for. When we pay many prices forward in the process of progress, success will come to us. Hence, I believe that the price we must pay for progress affects our future more in the sense that prices are decided almost only with our strong will, and that progress is made of various prices we paid for.

To begin with, we pay prices only when we have strong will. To be honest, it is not easy to pay prices forward when we try to progress. Some examples of prices are time, efforts, emotional and inner confusion, physical discomfort, and so on. Those prices are essential to our daily life and gave us some comforts. For example, when we study which is a great example for students to step into the process of progress, we have to pay ¡°sleep and time¡± forward as the price. Sleep is a very important factor to students and also very hard to fight against. Time is also as same as sleep. Finally, we can stand and fight against those prices only with our strong will. Therefore, prices that are paid forward affect our future.

In addition, progress comes to us when many prices combine together. Examples such as time, efforts, inner disorder, and physical pain contribute to progress. For instance, Edison experimented 9,999 times, but he failed all the time. However, in a final attempt, he succeeded and said, ¡°I was very happy because I could know the reason why I failed through the 9,999 times of attempt.¡± He couldn¡¯t succeed without his passion, efforts, and long time which are the prices he paid. Having said this, prices are very powerful in affecting our future.

To conclude, considering strong will desire and passion, prices we paid forward for progress are really effective and valuable. As ¡°There are no way to success, but pay the price forward¡± is widely said, we should not pursue comfort and easiness for progress. Rather, we willingly pay many prices as possible as we can and should approach to the progress successfully. Prices might affect our future to development.
