Patriarch Throm_SKF Realm: US West Diablo Expansion Pack Patch 1.10 05-24-04 This is my 3rd character to defeat the Diablo Expansion Pack patch 1.10. This Berserker Barbarian was heavily twinked with items found by my sorceress, Matriarch Elayne_SKF. Throm_SKF has been a very fun and satisfying character to play with. He is extremely party friendly with a level 20+ Battle Orders and can stand toe-to-toe against any foe in the game and achieve victory in hand-to-hand combat. The best experience playing with this character was during the final battles in Hell. I partied with a Concentration/Blessed Hammer Paladin and a Fire Sorceress in Act 3 and together in one night we defeated Mephisto, Izual, Diablo, and the Ancients. The others would use alternate characters to provide us with the waypoints we needed. My role was to cast Battle Command and Battle Orders, then act as the tank for the party. My level 20 War Cry kept most of the monsters stunned, making them easy prey to my Concentration-enhanced Berserk attack, the Paladin’s hammers, and the Sorceress’ fireballs and meteors. The hardest battle, as usual, was against the Hell Ancients. A wind druid joined us for this quest. The Paladin touched the altar, and I took the front, fighting face to face with both Talic and Korlic. |

Madawc engaged the wind druid while the Paladin kept throwing hammers and the sorceress stayed back and cast her spells. I truly was a tank with 2000+ life, almost maxxed resists and String of Ears acting to reduce damage further. I stayed where I was and cast an occasional Battle Cry to lower their defense while I continuously Berserked away. Talic and Korlic fell after awhile, leaving Madawc who madly chased the severely wounded wind druid around the Arreat Summit. The four of us then cornered Madawc against a column and he was defeated with a flurry of hits from my Bloodtree Stump War Club, hammers, and fire magic. |

I assaulted the Worldstone Keep the next day with a full party of adventurers. After Lister fell, only a lightning sorceress and I continued to venture into Baal’s chamber. Again I fought hand-to-hand while the sorceress cast her lighting from behind. We had to first vanquish his clone, then at last Baal himself was utterly defeated. Future Plans: Well, Throm_SKF is probably not the best choice for magic finding runs since he is so dependent on his equipment for damage dealing and protection. I think I will use this character as a sort of “Hero of the Realms” to aid lower level adventurers in their quests in US West. -James |
