Talent contest a high-flying affair ``Sopranos'' star Jamie-Lynn Sigler held court yesterday at The Roxy, where she judged a contest for airport lounge lizards! The hot young actress/singer, best known as ``Meadow'' on the hit HBO mob series, did the Simon Cowell thing with ex-New Kid Jordan Knight; Jim Turner, star of the recently-offed Arli$$; and KISS-108 morning man Matt Siegel. The aspiring singers, dancers, comics and monologists, who each had 45 seconds to win over the judges, vied for the chance to entertain passengers waiting to board Delta Air Lines' new discount air service, Song. ``It's very impressive,'' Sigler said. ``Being a performer myself, I give them a lot of credit.'' Turning last place into best place was the final contestant, Boston's own Rose Placid, a local regular on the national anthem circuit, who took first place with straight 10s. Asked about the state of her own musical career, Sigler said her first love is musical theater, but she doubts she'll ``venture back into the recording industry.'' But her real first love is her fiancee and manager, A.J. Discala, who watched his gal patiently from the bar. ``I'm getting married in two months,'' she said. ``It's very exciting. It's my first and only.'' So it looks like it will be a busy summer for Miss Meadow. After her honeymoon, she'll return to the set of the ``Sopranos'' and then shoot a feature film with Dorchester homeboy Joe McIntyre. Jordan Knight Articles and Transcripts Home |
