INTERVIEW WITH ... / Jordan Knight
BY JESSICA SICK

(intro) In the summer of 1990, a certain writer went to her first -- and only -- New Kids on the Block concert. The tickets were a present for her 13th birthday, and her mother had sent a telegram asking if the New Kids could wish this certain now-writer a happy birthday during the show. Needless to say, that never happened. Neither did marrying Joey McIntyre.

More than two decades later, this certain writer had the chance to talk with former NKOTB member Jordan Knight, who made it out of boy-bandom alive and has since been doing the solo thing. He releases two new singles Monday that'll only be available on his website, jordanknight.com, and he'll celebrate the releases Monday in Miami at the Chesterfield Hotel and later at B.E.D. Also, catch him 8 a.m. that morning on Y-100 (100.7 FM) or 8 p.m. Tuesday on Power 96 (96.5 FM). And if you happen to meet Joey, tell him that writer is sooo not interested anymore.

MIAMI HERALD: The first album I ever bought was Michael Jackson's Thriller . What was yours?

JORDAN: It was probably Run-D.M.C.'s first album [Run-D.M.C.]. It had a song called ''Rock Box'' on it that I loved.

MIAMI HERALD: Does your hometown, Dorchester, Mass., have an official Jordan Knight Day?

JORDAN: Not for me, but for the New Kids. I think the New Kids have days all across the country. I heard ''We now proclaim this New Kids on the Block Day!'' a lot.

MIAMI HERALD: What's your guilty pleasure song nowadays?

JORDAN: Track No. 5 on Justin Timberlake's album. It's called ``Cry Me a River.''

MIAMI HERALD: Your son's name is Dante. Who's he named after?

JORDAN: There was this movie called The Last Don, a Mafia movie, and there was this young guy named Dante. I just liked the name.

MIAMI HERALD: Biggest pet peeve?

JORDAN: People who make a lot of noise when they eat. I was in a movie theater the other day and this person in back of me was eating popcorn and it was so loud.

MIAMI HERALD: What movie was it?

JORDAN: Jackass. I loved it! If I could be on that show, that'd be great. How are they still alive? That's what I want to know. Those guys are bananas.

MIAMI HERALD: Any secret identities we should know about?

JORDAN: I've always wanted to be a spy. I saw Matt Damon in The Bourne Identity and I thought it was awesome.

MIAMI HERALD: Have you ever been mistaken for another celebrity?

JORDAN:Some homeless guy called me Donny Osmond once.
