Summary: Recap from the American Juniors Website Tonight Ryan opens the show by jokingly renaming American Juniors "Sister Act" because our first group members are sisters Taylor and Tori Thompson. The girls take the stage and head to the couch as Ryan brings out our remaining 8 finalists one by one, introducing them to rousing applause. Our judges' introductions are next and Ryan introduces Deborah Gibson, Gladys Knight and our guest judge - from the hit '90's band New Kids On The Block - Jordan Knight! Our theme for the week is songs from the year 1962. This is the baby boomer generation, the year of hula-hoops, yoyos, TV dinners, JFK was President, John Glenn orbited earth, "Lawrence of Arabia" was box office king, The Tonight Show was first aired, and 3 of our AJ parents were born!! First up this evening singing Bobby V.'s hit which went to #3 on the charts, with "The Nights Have A Thousand Eyes," is A.J. Melendez. Deborah Gibson says A.J. was awesome and definitely in his element, Jordan Knight said it was a great performance. Next, Danielle White comes out to sing the Little Eva classic, "Locomotion". Gladys Knight says this really shows Danielle's fun side and Jordan says her voice is amazing. Following Danielle, Chantel Kohl comes out to sing the Burt Bacharach song, "Don't Make Me Over", which of course, makes her dad cry again this week. Deborah says her voice is powerful and she really cuts, Jordan says he's blown away with her performance. Singing the Academy AwardŽ winning song from "Breakfast at Tiffany's", Moon River, Chauncey Matthews takes the stage. Chauncey lets some glitter fly at the height of the song to great surprise and Jordan says he nailed it! Gladys says she is speechless and was really touched by his performance. Lucy Hale comes out to sing the 1962 classic, "Breakin' Up Is Hard To Do." Deborah says she hit every note and nuance, and has it "goin' on." Gladys loves her performance calling it controlled and powerful. Next, singing the Elvis ballad, "Can't Help Falling In Love", Morgan Burke takes the stage. Jordan says he could not find one thing wrong with his performance calling it "just great" and Deborah says he really has the chops and technique. Up next, Jordan McCoy comes to the stage to sing "Sealed With A Kiss". Jordan Knight says she's so cute and has a sweet voice and Gladys says she has a laid back style and a beautiful, gentle voice. Singing "Tell Him", originally made popular by "the Exciters," is Katelyn Tarver. Deborah comments it was her "best yet" and sounded great. Jordan says she has the "sauciness" of a Broadway star and it was a great job. It's up to you America - your vote puts one more of our kids into the All-Star band. Ryan reminds us that tomorrow's results show has a very special guest - KELLY CLARKSON singing her big hit, "Miss Independent"!!!! Don't miss this special performance and find out who's our next little star to make the group. Screen Shots: |
