| African Bull Frog |
Common Name: Pixie Frog Scientific Name: Pyxicephalus adspersus Distribution: Tropical Africa Size: 8" - 10" BEHAVIOR: Usually tame but may give a painful bite. They can be housed in groups. However, the frogs must grow up together or they will fight each other. Caging: A large tank filled with gravel and water. Enough land must be provided so that the frog can get out of the water. I used under gravel heating to keep the frog from hurting itself on heaters. TEMPERATURE: Maintain day temperature range between 78-82 degrees F. Maintain night temperature range between 75-78 degrees F. HUMIDITY: This species requires moderate levels of humidity. This can be easily maintained with a lid on the tank Feeding:These frogs will eat anything that will fit in their mouths, and they will try to eat things that will not. |
