What you need to get started:
1 medium-sized banana (ripeness may vary, but I find a hint of green will impair the spreading mechanism-a ripe or slightly overripe banana is my preference)
1 or 2 slices of your favorite bread (depending on your hunger level)
A functional toaster or toaster oven
A knife, or some sort of spreading implement
Something on which to rest your meal between bites (i.e., plate, napkin, paper towel, clean surface)

Directions:
Place bread in toaster or toaster oven to desirable toaster setting. You might need to experiment several times before you find the setting that's right for you.

While waiting for signal that bread is toasted (sometimes a ding, sometimes a popping sound, or sometimes the actual ejecting of your bread from the toaster over), you may begin to peel the skin from your banana.

Warning:  Please do not leave your bread unattended in the toaster oven. At my workplace, this often leads to building evacuation and arrival of fire engines.

When your bread is toasted to your satisfaction, remove it from its toasting mechanism. It will still be warm, and this is when the banana should be applied.

You may be creative in the application of banana to toast. I like 1/2 inch slices spread on the toast. If the toast is sufficiently warm, they will melt right in. If this happens for you, you know that you have followed the directions well.

Sometimes there is more banana than there is toast. In this case, be liberal in its application! Or, just eat a bit of plain banana before you begin the main course!

Optional:
This meal tastes great with peanut or soy nut butter. I prefer the chunky style. Honey also tastes good with banana toast, but you will not get the same amount of protein.
