Mommy's
Birthday Breakfast

Guess what?  Today is mommy’s birthday!  Man I can’t wait to give her her present.  I’m awake now and want to give mommy my present right away, but Regina says that we have to wait for her birthday party to give it to her.  What a bummer.  I want to give mommy my present now.  But I’d better do what Regina tells me too otherwise I could get into big trouble.
Regina is my new best friend.  She came to live with us shortly after I was born.  She told me she was a nurse and a friend of Uncle Max’s before he died.  She was the one that daddy hired to help take care of me and then JJ after Uncle Max died because Daddy said that he didn’t know what mommy would do without someone to help her when the new baby came along because I was such a handful.  So daddy hired Regina.  Like I said Regina is my new best friend.  I liked her a lot before today, but all she ever did was help everybody else around here, but TODAY she helped me.
It all started when I went into the kitchen this morning for breakfast.  I walked into the kitchen and Regina said Hi Sunshine.  She always calls me Sunshine.  Daddy always calls me Princess, mommy always calls me Sweetheart and JJ calls me JA JA.  It was the first words he ever said, but that’s a different story and I’ll tell you that one later.  ANYHOW, Regina asked me what I wanted for breakfast and I said that I wanted mommy here with me.  I guess I must have sounded pretty tired yet because I was pretty grumpy with Regina.  She said that she knew how I felt and that mommy and daddy were still sleeping, but since that today was mommy’s birthday that she thought I should be with my mommy too.  So she said that she had a plan, Why don’t we make mommy breakfast, and that I could take it to her while she was still in bed.  YOU could do that?  Bring people breakfast in bed?  COOL.  Neither mommy nor daddy has ever let us eat out breakfast in bed, I think that’s a pretty neat idea.  Pretty soon we had a breakfast tray ready for mommy so that she could eat in bed.  There were scrambled eggs ( I got to break the eggs), bacon ( I got to pull the bacon apart and pat all the grease off of it), toast ( I put the butter on), orange juice ( I held the glass while Regina poured it) and coffee (Regina wouldn’t let me do anything with that she said it was too dangerous).  After that we took a small vase from the cupboard and went a got a rose from Uncle Max’s garden and put it on her tray.  Then Regina and I went up to mommy and daddy’s room and Regina knocked on the door for me and gave me the tray to give to mommy.  At first I didn’t hear anything, then I heard Daddy say Come In.  Its me Daddy, I said, Is Mommy awake?  She sure is, come on in.  Regina opens the door for me and I walked in.  You should have seen my mommy’s eyes when she saw me, I swear they were twinkling.  What’s this she said.  ITS YOUR BIRTHDAY breakfast mommy.  HAPPY BIRTHDAY!  Why thank you very much she says taking the tray from me and giving it to daddy, then she reached down and gave me the biggest hug.  I don’t think she has ever hugged me that hard before.  I swear I couldn’t breathe for a second.  I love you mommy, Happy birthday and I gave her a big slobbery kiss on her cheek.  Do you want to have breakfast with me in bed?  OH YES!  And I crawled right in the middle of mommy and daddy.  Too bad JJ’s still asleep, he doesn’t know what he’s missing!
After we had breakfast in bed, I told mommy that I had something to do and that I would be right back.  Ok she says but don’t be too long.  I won’t I promise.  I run all the way downstairs and gave Regina the biggest hug that I could give her.  Thanks Regina you’re the best.  So now you know why Regina is my best friend. She always seems to know when I really need my mommy.
