Broadway:
Part 3
The next morning I woke up in the motel room snuggled up to my favorite teddy bear.  Funny, all I remember about last night, is looking up at daddy and asking him if he could carry me and he said sure princess, and picked me up in his arms.  The next thing I know is that I’m waking up in this bed.   How do they do it?  How do parents put their children to bed without waking them up?  I have no idea, except that I must have been pretty tired last night.  I put my robe and my Mickey slippers on and went to find mommy and daddy.  I was hungry.  I was also hoping that we could go back to the Stardust Café for breakfast.  That place sure was fun last night.
When I got out to the living room I saw my mommy drinking some coffee.  Good morning sweetheart, how did you sleep last night?  Ok, but how did I get there?  Well, you ended up falling asleep in your daddy’s arms even before we got on the elevator, and you never woke up.  So when we got back here, I undressed you, put on your pajamas and tucked you into bed.  OOH….that’s how.  Would you like some breakfast?  Oh yes, I’m hungry.  There are some of your favorite chocolate chip muffins over there on the table, and I’ll pour you some milk to go with that ok?  Oh Kay.  You don’t sound to thrilled on that prospect.  No, I was just hoping that we could all go back to Stardust for breakfast?  Sorry sweetheart, not this morning.  Your father has already left for his meeting, but said to tell you that he loves you, and he will see us this afternoon for an early diner. Your grandfather stopped by to see you, but you were still asleep, and I told him not to wake you since you had a late night last night.  He said that he couldn’t wait to escort you to the musical tonight.  Me either.  And Regina took JJ with her when she went out this morning so guess what?  What?  Its just you and me all day today until we have to meet your father for dinner.  REALLY?  Really, now how about going over and see if you can eat one of those muffins for me, and then we’ll get you dressed and we’ll go see the big apple, just you and me.  Oh mommy, that’s wonderful!  I can’t wait, I said as I ran over to her and gave her a big hug, and slobbery kiss.  All right little one, go eat your muffins.
After I ate the muffins, mommy helped dress me in jeans and a T-shirt that she and daddy bought for us while we were up in the empire state building.  It says I saw the lights on it and has a nighttime picture of the building on it.  Its mostly black, but it has bright green, blue and yellow dots on it that are supposed to be the stars at night.  My mommy has good taste in clothes.  She said that since we were going to a Broadway play tonight, that we would have to get dressed up for it, and that not to worry, she didn’t bring anything fancy either, so we both had to find outfits.  I hope that we get matching outfits, that way we would look like sisters.  She is so pretty, I hope I look like her one day.  After tying my tennis shoes, she said that she had to get her purse and then we were off.  We took the elevator down to the lobby and got a taxi to take us to Neiman Marcus, which is a really fancy boutique (that’s another name for a clothes shop).  Mommy asked the sales lady, Deborah, that we had a special occasion to go to tonight and that we needed to get dresses for it.  She said that it shouldn’t be a problem.  She then knelt down and asked me what my two favorite colors were, and I said red and green, but not a regular green, a dark green, like pine trees.  She thought for a minute and then asked if I liked emerald green, like the dark green stone in her ring, and I said yes, that’s it, emerald green.  Then I whispered in her ear that it would be really neat if mommy’s outfit matched mine, and then she whispered back that she thought that she had the perfect out fit for me AND my mommy. She then stood up and asked mommy what dress size she wore.  I didn’t get to hear what mommy said because I was too busy looking at the lady’s emerald ring.  She then told mommy that she would be right out with the out fits, and mommy told her that we also had to go over to the shoe department to get me some black patent sandals.  Deborah said that it wouldn’t be a problem, and that she would come and find us.  So off we went to the shoe department.
Mommy found the shoes that I needed right away, and then she said that she already had a pair of shoes that would work back at the hotel.  That surprised me, the only thing that mommy has more of than her jewelry is her shoes, and mommy passing up a shoe sale on top of that is almost impossible.  The salesman, Dan, had just brought me my shoes when Deborah showed up with IDENTICAL dresses.  A big one for mommy, and a little one for me.  They were both emerald green in color.  The only difference between the two was that mommy’s was cut lower in the front.  Mine went straight across from shoulder to shoulder, while hers did this v shaped thing down the front.  They were both long, and had poofy sleeves on them.  The sleeves and the skirt were a darker green, and the top part of them were a lighter green.  They were SO pretty.  Well, JL, what do you think?  Both mommy and Deborah were smiling down at me.  I think they’re perfect, I hope they fit!  You know something, me too. Mommy said.  Shall we go try them on?  Oh yes.  Deborah showed us where the dressing rooms were and Deborah told my mommy that she would help me get into my dress while she was getting into hers.  So mommy went into her dressing room, and I went into mine.  Luckily I got done first.  Deborah had picked up some tights from the lingerie department on her way to get us, and I put those on as well as my new shoes.  Deborah led me out to the waiting area where all the mirrors were.  I don’t think I have every looked this pretty.  I couldn’t help but dance and twirl in front of the mirrors.  Well it looks like somebody likes her new dress, mommy said, what do you think of mine.  I stopped twirling and turned around.  Oh mommy. Was all I could say for a few moments.  I was in shock, all I could do was look at my mommy.   I don’t think I have ever seen my mommy look that pretty before.  Well, do you like it?  Like it I love it mommy, you look sooo pretty.  Well thank you.  How about we get the dresses and have them sent back to the hotel, and do some more shopping?  I’d love that mommy.  Now go get out of that dress like a good girl and I’ll meet you back here in two minutes ok sweetheart?  Ok mommy.  Deborah helped me get out of my dress, and I gave her a hug and said Thank you for finding those dresses for us.  She said your quite welcome, and that the next time that we were in town, to come find her.  I told her we would.  I changed out of my dress and back into my jeans and T-shirt and met mommy back outside.  Are you ready to go?  You bet.
Mommy then told me that there had been a change in plans.  Daddy had called mommy on her cell phone while she was changing and we were going to meet him at a park near where his meeting was for lunch.  So when we got outside, mommy got us a cab and we took the taxi down to Battery Park.  Daddy was waiting for us when we got there.  I’ve got the best seat in the house reserved for my best two girls, are you ready?  Uh hunh.  He then led us to a park bench.  Jonathan, this is the best seat in the house? Mommy said.  He said yes and then said to sit down and look over there, he said pointing.  And when I looked over to where he was pointing you could see the Statue of Liberty out in the bay.  That was so cool.  You two stay right here while I go get us lunch ok? Daddy said and he was off to get lunch.  So what do you think of the Statue of Liberty mommy asked.  I thinks she’s really pretty mommy, but not as pretty as you are.  Well thank you very much.  Have I told you that I love you lately?
