A Room In Memory of Jenni
Not far from my home, there stands a very old farm home and some outbuildings.  This farm and some land was purchased by Conley Outreach with many hopes and dreams for its use. The old farm home is going to be used for retreats and Hospice families.  Once all up to code and approved, it will also be used for parties, bridal showers, and other such occasions.

When I found out rooms could be "adopted" I immediately put my request in for one special room upstairs.  It is a bedroom which overlooks the front porch roof.  I immediately thought, Jenni would love this room.  I could just imagine her if she had lived in that home, sneaking out at night by climbing out the bedroom window, and shimmying on down the front porch post.

Anyway, it is my responsibility to get this room fixed up and furnished in the era of its time-Victorian, 1800's style.  Well, I don't know if mine will be very true to the time, but it my best effort to honor Jenni's memory.  I was determined to persue our memorial colors of purple and green.  The first thing I found was a beautiful quilt with a purple and green starburst pattern on white.  Absolutely stunning.  As a matter of fact, I liked it so much, I bought one for my own bed.  This led to decorating my own room in the same manner I had planned for Jenni's Room.  The walls are painted a very light lilac, and there is wallpaper at chair rail height on down.  It is a white paper with very tiny purple flowers on it.  The windows are trimmed in battenburg lace valances.  The room in needless to say, beautiful.  I am so glad my mom got to see it before she left us to join Jenni.  My mom loved the room-and at least got an idea of what I was striving for in this old farm house.

We have had to wait the course of getting things approved and up to code.  I have finally today, June 25th,  started on Jenni's Room.  Actually, a very good friend has already been in there and stripped the wooden floors, sanded them and varnished them.  So the pictures you will see have paper lining the floor to protect it until I am done. The following images show the progress I am making!!!

These 2 views are from the hallway door, looking in.  The trim is (was) a mellon, orangy color and the walls are a lighter shade.

Views from the wall with the windows.  On the right photo-the little round cover over the closet door, is covering what used to be the heat source to a pot belly stove fixture.

The closet floor-it never got stripped and sanded-so I painted it and stenciled on it.
This is an awesome lamp I found at a barn sale to be used in the room-if it makes it there-I love the lamp so much.
This is the Ravlin House-named after the original family who lived in the home. Jenni's Room is over the front porch-you can see one window-the other one is hidden by the tree.  You can link to The Conley Outreach web site by clicking on the photo on the left.  There you can learn about the services offered by Conley Outreach.
This background is the wallpaper that was used in Jenni's Room.
Jenni's favorite song by Enigma-Return To Innocence is the song you hear.  To read the words of this song-click here.
The locket above was a gift from Susie-you can click on it to email her!!!!
