The United Colinies of America is established by the First Continental Congress.

14 June 1775
The American Continental Army is established.

13 October 1775
The American Continental Navy is established.

10 November 1775
The American Continental Marine Corps is established.

24 July 1781
The United Colinies of America is renamed as the United States of America.

26 November 1783
The Continental Navy and Marine Corps is disbanded.

3 June 1784
The United States Army is established from the Continental Army.

4 August 1790
The United States Revenue Cutter Service is established.

30 April 1798
The United States Navy is established.

11 July 1798
The United States Marine Corps is established.

18 Febuary 1861
The Confederate States of America is established.

21 Febuary 1861
The Confederate States Army and Navy is established.

4 May 1865
The Confederate States of America is disolved and the Confederate States Army and Navy is disbanded.

2 Febuary 1901
The United States Army Nurse Corps is established.

13 May 1908
The United States Navy Nurse Corps is established.

28 January 1915
The United States Coast Guard is established from the United States Revenue Cutter Service.

29 August 1916
The United States Reserve is established for the Army, Navy, and Marine Corps.

24 May 1918
The United States Army Air Corps is established.

15 June 1933
State militias are federalized and the United States National Guard is established.

15 May 1942
The United States Women's Army Auxilary Corps (WAAC) is established.

30 July 1942
The United States Navy Women's Reserve (WAVE) is established.

10 September 1942
The United States Army Air Corps Women's Auxiliary Ferrying Squadron (WAFS) is established.

23 November 1942
The United States Coast Guard Women's Reserve (SPAR) is established.

14 Febuary 1943
The United States Marine Corps Women's Reserve is established.

1 July 1943
The United States Women's Army Auxilary Corps (WAAC) is renamed the United States Women's
Army Corps (WAC).

5 August 1943
The United States Army Air Corps Women's Auxiliary Ferrying Squadron (WAFS) is deactivated and the Women's Airforce Service Pilots (WASP) is established as an unofficial branch of the armed forces.

20 December 1944
The Women's Airforce Service Pilots (WASP) is deactivated.

30 June 1946
The United States Coast Guard Women's Reserve (SPAR) is deactivated.

26 July 1947
The United States Air Force and Air National Guard is established from the United States Army Air
Corps and Army National Guard.

16 June 1948
The United States Women's Air Force (WAF) is established.

1 July 1949
The United States Air Force Nurse Corps is established.

5 April 1950
The United States Coast Guard Women's Reserve (SPAR) is reactivated.

7 December 1973
The United States Coast Guard Women's Reserve (SPAR) is intergrated into the Coast Guard eliminating the name SPAR.

29 October 1978
The United States Women's Army Corps (WAC), Navy Women's Reserve (WAVE), Marine Corps
Women's Reserve, Women's Air Force (WAF) and all of the Nurses Corps are intergrated into the
different branches of service eliminating the seperate names.
