Prairie Grass Poultry |
My interest in poultry goes back to a pair of Pekin ducks my mother brought home when I was just 4 years old. I have raised many breeds to show at the county fair and was active in FFA. Then I went through several years of town-life and no birds. In 2001, I was accepted at the University of Oklahoma, College of Architecture, and moved to rural Lexington, Oklahoma. It has been a great move for my family. I am very interested in preserving rare and old breeds of poultry. I am a member of the Society of Poultry Preservation and Antiquities (SPPA), and I strive to preserve the production and aesthetic qualities of the breeds I am working with. |

I am looking for any flock of geese that has features similar to the Heritage Pomeranian--pink bills and feet or single lobes. At one time, there were large flocks of these geese in the Mid- to Southwest. I am interested in flocks of geese that have been isolated for generations as family flocks. Especially flocks that might have been kept by Indian or German families. Geese such as Old English, West of England and Brecon Buff have all been imported to the United states in the past. I am interested in surviving flocks. Do you have pictures or documents about poultry in the Oklahoma region? Do you know of any pictures or available stock of the following breeds?
