EDITORIAL (Sort of)
April, 2009
Back in the 80's and much of the 90's us Scanner Folk clammored for the latest edition of the Official Scanner Guide, Scanner Master or similar paperbook guides for the latest frequencies. I still have mine w/all sorts of chicken scrath additions, etc. I even have another copy of the last 9th Edition NH Guide that has barely been opened. I got two for when the other fell apart from use.

But with the proliferation of the Internet, the books became obsolete. between websites like mine and user lists, mostly Yahoogroups, information became almost instantaneous as it changed. And with many of NH's changes post 9th Edition of the books, the internet has taken over as the authority for information.

The downside to all this is there are SO MANY websites now w/information, you can spend hours compiling and comparing which information is accurate, up-to-date, etc. NH info alone has I think about 10 sites all dealing with in-state frequencies. Not to mention the yahoogroups and others.

With this in mind, a few sites have emerged as the premeire sites. And admittedly, mine really isn't one of them. I recommend checking out Scan New England (
www.scannewengland.net). I have contributed to SNE as have several other reliable sources. Scan New England has emerged as the premier scanning site for New England and also offers Live Audio and many other features. My recommendation is to check out this site. If you have some credible information to add or correct, let me know and I can add the info. Just send me an e-mail at jmarcel66@gmail.com and I'll get it into the system for you w/credits as best I can. Also sign up for the group list that has the latest info on NH Frequency and radio happenings at Yahoo Groups (www.yahoogroups.com) and search for the "NewHampshireScanner" list.

One thing I do hope to do in the future is create an Excel File scanner frequency list for New Hampshire. That would allow a "paper" concept. I had worked on other things before so we'll see if I get this going (LOL).

John Marcel
