LACONIA COMMUNICATIONS
		The Lake City is the main city in the tourist area of the Lakes Region. Laconia has beach areas on both Lake Winnepesaukee (Weirs Beach) and Lake Winnisquam as well as Paugus bay and rivers running between them. The Weirs Beach area of the city is one of the most visited tourist attratcions in New Hampshire and also is home to the annual "Motorcycle Weekend" where bikers from all over the world converge on the area and almost quadruple the local population. The tourism industry has overshadowed what was once a trhiving manufacturing/mill industry which has declined over the years.
			LACONIA FIRE DEPARTMENT The Laconia Fire Department is one of only a few Full-Time fire departments in the area in the International Association of Firefighters (IAFF). With a small Call Firefighter staff, the full time staffing is split between two of the three stations in the city. The Lakeport Station is not staffed fulltime and is home to the call company. Much of LFD's front line equipment has been replaced after many years of service with aging apparatus. The addition of Advance Life Support services is also a recent addition to Laconia through a cooperative effort between Lakes Region General Hospital (LRGH) and LFD. In this agreement LRGH provided the 2 new Ambulances, thus anyone seeing these ambulances will notice both LFD and LRGH logos on them.
