SOUHEGAN VALLEY FIRE MUTUAL AID ASSOCIATION
The Souhegan Valley Mutual Aid system was started in the mid to late 1980's to provide coordination and training for the communities in Southwestern Hillsborough County. Many of the communities operate on their own frequencies, the area surrounding Milford is considered the Souhegan Valley primary area for radio. MACC-Base (Milford Area Communications Commission) is the communications center covering Milford & the surrounding towns. In addition, the City of Manchester is not a member of Souhegan but has been assigned a number by some of the communities for Mutual Aid. Radio ID's are similar to those throughout New Hampshire except that some apparatus utilize letters and some utilize the unit types name. The list below has the communties ID number and Primary frequency. The Milford Area towns channel plan is also listed below. The assigned numbers match that assigned by State Police to communities in Troop-B. Therefore, Milford is "20" as they are assigned "1220" by State Police (12=Troop-B towns).

HILLTOP FIRE DISTRICT
The Hilltop Fire District was created during the military downsizing of the 1990's. Originally the New Boston Air Force Tracking station provided Automatic Mutual Aid from the base to the areas in New Boston, Amherst and Bedford near the station. After the Air Force reduced the NBAFS Fire Department presence, equipment and no longer allowed it off base, the three affected towns needed to come up with a way to provide Fire Protection to the area. Thus the Hilltop Fire District was born made up of personel from all three communities and full time staff from Bedford Fire. The Firehouse is located just inside the Tracking Station grounds but in a public area (prior to the gate). They are dispatched By Bedford, New Boston and Amherst by their respective dispatch centers and operate on the frequency where the call is located.
