Below is what the heads flowed when taken off the car. No modifications to the heads. These were ported by my brother in 1997. | Below is what the heads flowed after some minor cleaning up. I opened the exhaust port roof and widened the intake runner pinch point. | Below is what the heads flowed after some more exhaust work. I was hoping for more on the intake side also but it might have lost some. The weather was really humid also. | ||||||||||||||||||||||

My final phase of my head porting I opened the runners up considerably. I had the exhaust seats cleaned up due to a ridge that was on average about .030" up from the combustion chamber. I also replaced my stock intake valves with Manley High Flo valves, undercut stems. I had the machine shop remove about .25" of the guide out of all the runners to help move air. A lot of care and attention went into this set of heads. Pressure tested, everything double checked, new bronze guides, milled .020" to clean them up and basically little tricks here and there. Over all I feel they are a very decent set of heads and are such an improvement over what I was running before, this car should be a good running car. Now I did not get a chance to have the heads flowed after the final phase, so the numbers I present are simply put, guesses on my part. They are I feel honest #'s and I did not inflat them to make myself feel better. Wether they flow great #'s or not, I am running them. |
My flow estimates: Basically 5% increase, rounded up Bench: Super Flo 600 Tested @ 28" H2O Date: NA 1/2" clay lip on intake port 4.030" bore Lift Intake Exhaust 0.200 134.0 100.0 0.300 196.0 135.0 0.400 243.0 159.0 0.500 264.0 180.0 0.600 268.0 191.0 0.700 271.0 196.0 |
