MIDSOMER MURDERS
COUNTRY MATTERS
Main Characters - Roles
FRANK HOPKIRK - TIM HARDY
Frank is a business consultant,
fifty-ish, well-off but unremarkable, except perhaps for a rather
swashbuckling moustache. He is unhappily married and seeks comfort elsewhere.
GINNY LAMINGTON - JULIET AUBREY
Ginny runs the riding stables in
Elverton-cum-Latterly. She's striking looking, an imposing presence
in her immaculate jodhpurs and beautifully-cut hacking jacket, with
her hair scraped back in a severe bun.
ORLANDO LAMINGTON - JONNY PHILLIPS
Married to Ginny, Orlando is a
typical alpha male. He is anxious to protect the village from the
Goodfare development and chairs the Stop the Supermarket group.
CELIA PATCHETT - MADELEINE POTTER
Celia is a delicate, vulnerable
beauty - a vision from a pre-Raphaelite painting. She runs a rural
pursuits centre in Elverton, offering lessons in shooting and fishing.
JEREMY PATCHETT - JOHN MCANDREW
A former city accountant now
discovering the joys of working from home, Jeremy is a fastidious,
perpetually-worried looking man. He's very protective of Celia.
ROSE SOUTHERLY - CLARE HOLMAN
Rose is the quintessential English
rose - attractive but not intimidating. She's sexy but maternal and
comforting all at the same time. A bit lost in her role as the
perfect country wife since the death of her much-loved husband Giles.
DORA SOUTHERLY - SOPHIE STUCKEY
Dora is Rose's 12-year-old
daughter, with attitude. She attends a posh private school, which her
mother struggles to afford. Dora hates the way men flock around Rose.
REV SUSAN WICKING - KIRSTY BUSHELL
Rev Suze is the offbeat vicar of
Elverton. She wears a dog collar with T-shirt and sports a stud in
her nose. A keen jogger, she is an open supporter of Goodfare.
GARY TALBOT - ANTHONY BYRNE
Angst-ridden Gary is proprietor of
the Elverton Village Stores and Post Office, and trapped in an
unhappy marriage. The supermarket would put him out of business.
DANNY PIGGOTT - DORIAN HEALY
Landlord of The Woodman pub, Danny
is good-looking in a dark, thuggish sort of way. Rumours suggest he
stands to make money from selling up to Goodfare.
OTIS PIGGOTT - JACK CRUTCH
Danny's son Otis is a scruffy
12-year-old who hangs out with Dora Southerly, providing her with
booze and cigarettes from the pub. He's secretly devoted to her.
