Neeco’s Comprehensive Guide to The Sorcerer’s Runes

Hello boys and girls. My name is Lady Neeco and I’m about

to teach you how to Infuse a scroll with your own

runestones that you've made just for this purpose. I'll be giving

telling what items you'll be needing, the process, and what I

personally have found to be true and untrue. If you have any

comments, corrections, insults, or praise... Please feel

free to TTM me in game; send me a psinet mail or "chat",

e-mail me at azuraasellus@aol.com, IM me at azuraasellus, or

e-mail me at asellus_azura@hotmail.com. Thank you for taking

the time, effort, and for some of you... money and items

for this to be possible.

Let me first tell you what SKILLS will be best needed for

this little job that you'll be doing. The 700 spell circle

will help lower the DANGER of infusing and give you a

better chance of success instead of failure. MIU will help you

draw your runes better which in turn gives you a few more

waves per smooth stone. Arcane symbols and Mana sharing-

spiritual will help you send more mana into your scroll with a

better chance of success.

Now that I’ve said all that let's begin. This is for

infusion purposes only so I’ll tell you what runes to use and

the items you need. As a sorcerer you'll get all of these

runes to draw for your infusions at train 14. You won't need

them under the known rune list so don't worry. They will be in

your common rune list and you won't need to do anything

special to keep them there or learn them.

********************************************************************************************

Common Runes:

            - beiron'fyn                             - celestial

- dune                                      - erikar'fyn

- ikar'fyn                                 - luck

            - odeir'cos                               - quiss'fyn

- solar                                      - volcano

- wy'zio

********************************************************************************************

Even though you get all those, only the 'fyn and 'cos

runes are used for scroll infusion. It is believed by some that

the "word" runes such as luck and dune are used to summon

specific spirit servants used by clerics. At this time I

have not obtained a yea or nea upon that as I am currently

doing only sorcerer runes and infusion. The wy'zio rune is for

forgetting "special" runes from your known rune list. The

"gods" have not "brought" the "special" runes to the world

yet so the wy'zio does nothing currently. here is a listing

of what the "sorcerer" runes do...

Odeir'cos = Detection. This rune has 2 uses. First off It

will allow you to read what is on the scroll, paper, etc.

etc. weither you could read it to begin with normally or not.

Secondly it will give you the "potential" of a scroll or

whatever. Meaning it will tell you if the spells on the

scroll can be infused more, and how about how much more they can

be infused.

********************************************************************************************

You wave your stone at a light parchment.

As the stone passes over the scroll, you sense:

   (117) Spirit Strike with a couple charges remaining.

   (601) Natural Colors with a few charges remaining and

the potential to add many charges.

The stone disintegrates.

Cast Roundtime 3 Seconds.

********************************************************************************************

Beiron'fyn = Level 5 infusion. This rune will "unlock" a

scroll spell of 5 or less trainings and allow around 5

charges to be infused into it. EX: I have a scroll with 503, 911,

511, and 401 on it. This rune will automatically only seek

out those 2 spells on that scroll that it could "unlock"

which are 503 and 401 in this case. After it unlocks those two

spells it would become useless for this scroll.

Erikar'fyn = Level 10 infusion. This rune with "unlock"

train 10 or fewer spells on a scroll and allow for around 10

charges to be infused on your scroll. Just like the

Beiron'fyn rune it only seeks out the spells it can "unlock"

Ikar'fyn = Level 15 infusion. This rune is like the other 2

only it allows infusion for up to train 15 and infusion of

around 15 charges. Are we sensing a pattern???

Quiss'fyn = Level 20 infusion. This is the greatest rune

for infusion that is yet known to society to date. same as

the rest with a max of train 20 spells and around 20 charges.

Now knowing what your runes do I need to stop and tell you

the HAZARDS of infusing. As you see, the gods are not

without order when they do things... by this I mean that the

greater the rune you are using the greater chance you rune of

something going wrong. While the Quiss'fyn rune gives you

the most benefits it also carries with it the most risk. It

has the greatest fail rate to "unlock" a spell, (even

though you can't see your roll or anything like that), the

greatest chance to damage or permanently "locking" a scroll, the

greatest chance to blow your hand off, and lay on the

ground as a dead body...

An ok kid, the scary part is over now... shhhhh it'll be ok.

Here is what you'll need for your scroll infusion... (most

items bought in Sol Haven magic shop currently)

********************************************************************************************

a cracked wood-handled brush (one time only... if you keep it clean)                                 around 7.5k

a tin vial of rune ink                                                                                                               around 2.5k

a dented iron cup                                                                                                                    around 300 silver

many many smooth stone (bought at backroom in the general store of Wehnimer's)       around 250 silver

a crude hexagonal runestone (other option for smooth stone)                                            around 15k (not worth it)

scrolls, papers, papyrus, etc.                                                                                                 (price may vary)

********************************************************************************************

And here is the process of infusion for all to see and use

to their hearts content to make scrolls live longer

healthier lives...

We'll start by making our smooth stone into a smooth stone

with some funny letters in a language you yourself really

don't understand... but it's in white ink so it has to be

good! For this you'll only need your brush, ink, smooth

stone, and cup.

Get out your brush, ink, smooth stone, and cup. (After your

in a safe location such as an inn table)

Drop all but your ink and brush... or if you’re a scaredy cat

or know how bad Elanthian weather is, don't get them out

till you need them...

Then you DIP MY BRUSH IN MY INK *note* you'll have the

ability to make 2 runes with 1 dip. And each bottle of ink has

5 "dips" in it.

Then GET SMOOTH STONE ::that was hard...::

Then DRAW (RUNESTONE OF YOUR CHOICE HERE) RUNE ON MY STONE

WITH MY BRUSH *note* you'll get from 2-5 waves with your

smooth stone depending on the message you get when writing

the runes... some say you draw a likeness, you do a decent

job, or you make an almost perfect rune. if you care to spend a

!@$% load I’ve found that buying a hexagonal runestone from

the same shop in Sol haven has given me... 5 I think it was

last time... and I didn't draw too good of a rune either...

********************************************************************************************

draw ikar'fyn rune on my stone with my brush

With a few quick strokes of the brush, you draw the

"ikar'fyn" rune on the surface of your smooth stone.

Roundtime: 10 sec.

or...

draw ikar'fyn rune on my stone with my brush

You slowly trace out the shape of the "ikar'fyn" rune with

your brush, forming a near-perfect copy of it on the back

of your smooth stone.

Roundtime: 10 sec.

********************************************************************************************

Then you can draw you another rune or not. It's up to you.

Either way, when you’re done you'll need to clean your brush

if you ever wish to dip it into ink again.

Then GET MY CUP

Then DIP MY BRUSH IN MY CUP *note* this will clean your

brush so that it's ready for ink again. The "status" of your

brush can be found by LOOKing at your brush. I don't know if

the brush will start getting unusable if you do not wash

it... but it's definitely a possibility seeing as how you have

to wash it...

Now to the part you've all been waiting for... I give you

UNLOCKING AND INFUSING! you'll need your made up runes, and

a scroll or other such item.

Then you'll WAVE MY STONE AT MY SCROLL *note* 3 different

things can happen by just that action. You could one,

succeed and "unlock" one spell on the scroll (only one spell is

unlocked per wave). Or you could, fail in your attempt and

have to try again. And finally you could get make your

scroll GLOW WHITE then you've done something called "locking"

and that scroll, (not just that spell), but that whole scroll

can not be infused or unlocked never ever again.

It is advised you take up your Odier'cos rune and detect

the scroll at this point... You don't have to for the process

to continue... it's just nice to know if you’re targeting

only 1 of 2 spells out of say 4 or 5. If you wish to do this

step just...

WAVE MY STONE AT MY SCROLL

And you'll get a message of what spells are on the scroll,

if they are unlocked, and about how many charges you can

put in them. But if you're just infusing a whole scroll or

whatever then skip to the next step after you've unlocked all

your spells. *note* if you really really really don't wish

to use an Odier'cos rune just read your scroll before you

start waving your runes around to know how many spells are on

the scroll. Then wait till you've unlocked that many

spells.

********************************************************************************************

You wave your stone at a sheet of yellowed vellum.

The smooth stone is momentarily surrounded by a bright

white aura.

Cast Roundtime 3 Seconds.

or...

You wave your stone at a torn scroll.

The smooth stone shakes slightly, but nothing happens.

The stone disintegrates.

Cast Roundtime 3 Seconds.

or...

You wave your stone at a light parchment.

The smooth stone vibrates and beings to glow.  You sense

that the parchment has somehow been altered.

Cast Roundtime 3 Seconds.

********************************************************************************************

Then PREP 714

Then CAST MY SCROLL

Then INFUSE MY SCROLL *note* at this point you can get can

4 messages (you are not ready to infuse that, you try and

infuse but fail, you infuse your scroll, or yet another

GLOW). IF you get the (you are not ready to infuse that)

message then you have done something wrong or something is off.

If you fail you can keep trying to infuse. If you succeed

you may still continue to try. If you get a GLOW or AURA then

you’re up a creek without a paddle. It's advised that you

pause 3-5 seconds between each INFUSION attempt. I’ve found

that if I just keep typing that in real quick I get far

more fails and end up locking my scrolls and starting all

over. But at this point you do basically become a wizard doing

an enchant job, you'll be infusing infusing and infusing.

You'll have about 3 minutes to infuse your scroll... BUT

WAIT!!!! Even when your link to your scroll has gone away the

spells are still "unlocked" that's right little children.

This means if you have not yet invoked the scroll or locked

the scroll you can wait and get your mana back to infuse

again. That doesn't mean you can go and fully charge a

scroll, then use it to 1 charge, then fully charge it again.

********************************************************************************************

You gesture at a light parchment.

You focus your mind on the light parchment and form a link

with it.

Cast Roundtime 3 Seconds.

Then repeat, repeat, etc. *note* may cause age, stress,

and many locked scrolls... :)

and then...

infuse my par

As you infuse your mana into the light parchment it glows

dimly.

Cast Roundtime 3 Seconds.

and when you've filled it up...

infuse my par

You attempt to infuse the light parchment, but your mana

dissipates.

Cast Roundtime 3 Seconds.

and when you’re uh... "confused"

You feel your link to the light parchment slip.

>infuse my par

You are not prepared to infuse that.

and when you fail...

(have not failed yet)

and when you lock...

(have not locked yet)

********************************************************************************************

*extra note as I’m writing and getting the exact words to

these messages... I’ve just found a bug so that you can

infuse a scroll to full, then invoke it till you’re done, then

infuse it back to maximum again.

My most special thanks to the Lady Neeco.  She asked me a question I couldn’t answer….. Her punishment was to create this guide so as not to make Palooka look silly ever, ever again….
