A life passed between simple things, in its modest house, like in the narrow lanes of the country or church where it loved to perhaps o in order to converse with the “Vergine Blessed soul Maria” for via of those mysterious distances that mark every human existence from birth (was a candid spirit). She was she that it called the neighbors to the hour of the rosary or was found engaged to design for the ricamatrici of the rione. But from always it had in body a great impulse, one insopprimibile will to communicate with the next one in more intimate and long-lasting way. And with the impending old age our “Maria” explodes and with great expressive force she begins to paint all that that the understood one to hand capacity: it is that iron features old from I iron myself or scalcinate water jugs is cardboards or slabs for x-rays.
E' guided from a simple authenticity, expression of a sure and precise instinct.
Its is a speech for the others, with the attempt to approach them to the nature, to all that that encircles it and that it deserves of to have lived.
This is “Maria Trentadue”, class 1893, passing in 1977, to the beautiful age of 83 years, perhaps than it continues to paint serene in one of those islands suspended between clouds and to she many beloveds.
Large “the Old one” of Modugno is from numbering itself between the more evocative personages who the citizen can indicate. To give a precise definition of its art is not easy what and is preferable, beyond that opportune, to leave such task the experts.
A circumstance is however sure: all those that by chance are approach you its painting are not resolutions to sottrarsi to a particular fascination that its works provoke: all that has had to the authenticity, to the sensibility, the passion and the impulse that characterize its art. … “
