Bio and martial arts background Michael Benardo started his martial arts training at the age of 8. His parent put him on Judo, to gain self confidence, and there he became interested in Karate at the same school. Michael trained at four schools and got his black belt from Richard Kim in California. At the age of 17, Michael started Bernardo Karate Academy. After receiving a Bachelor of Art Degree in Ontario Michael started Bernardo Karate training on a full-time base. Throughout the years 1988-1994 he dominated the National Tournament Circuit. Some of his accomplishments are: 14 Canadian titles in Forms, Weapons and Fighting 5 North American Weapon titles 4 North American Forms titles 4 North American Middle Weight Fighting titles National Competitor of the Year A record of 57 straight weapons divisions wins on the national circuit Michael bernardo never ment to be an actor, but did get some roles in action movies, and is planning to produce a series for the future. Till then, he keeps teaching and training at Bernardo Karate, where he can still be found.
